Second Death involved in van accident while driving to Bury Your Dead / Edict shows
Earlier today, Valdosta, GA metalcore band Second Death found themselves involved in a van accident while on their way to participate in shows with Bury Your Dead and Edict later this week. As a response to the incurred costs and expenses, the band launched a GoFundMe campaign to help them recover from the incident.
According to Action News, the accident involved three vehicles and sadly resulted in the loss of one life, aside from the injuries sustained by the members of Second Death.
"IMPORTANT:
Early this morning on our way to our guitarist's house in PA we got into an accident caused by a negligent driver which has landed us in the hospital. We are trying to figure what we are able to do if we are able to do anything at all. Two of us have damage to our ribs and our bassist broke his feet and will need surgery. We are looking at every possible option we have to make these dates with @edict666 and @buryyourdeadofficial
we will update everybody after we are discharged from the hospital and have assessed everything. Thank you for reading and thank you for reaching out! You'll hear from us soon!"
The band provided more context via GoFundMe:
"Hello all! We are a band called Second Death from Valdosta, Georgia. We were 20 minutes away from completing our 17 hour drive from Valdosta, GA to stay at our guitarist's house in Warminster, Pennsylvania when out of nowhere a negligent driver clipped our rear end (we are still unsure if it was our trailer or our van that was initially hit) causing us to spin out and crash off into a lamppost.
Thankfully we were able to walk away with our lives but this accident has landed us in a hospital in Pennsylvania far from home with varying injuries ranging from fractured ribs and broken feet. Not only has this landed us in the hospital but this is leaving us with no choice but to drop a tour that we didn't get a chance to even start with a band that inspired us to exist, we lost our van, and we lost all possible merch and gear we have due to a tow company that cleaned up the accident that won't allow us to at the least see the damage to our gear without paying for the cleanup.
This GoFundMe will go towards paying our medical expenses our insurances won't cover, towing fees, our damaged gear, future legal expenses. We appreciate everybody that took the time out to reach out to us and donate in our surprising time of need. We look forward to getting back on the road and touring again and making it up to everybody who was looking forward to seeing us this summer. If you read this far, thank you very much for your time."
Despite being able to survive the crash, the band members suffered varying injuries that include fractured ribs and broken feet. The situation also required them to abandon their tour with Bury Your Dead and Edict, with the added loss of their van, and equipment due to a tow company that won't allow them to see the damage without a fee. The GoFundMe campaign will aid in covering medical expenses, towing fees, damaged gear, and future legal expenses that insurance will not cover.

I can confirm from our preliminary examination of the accident scene that we found several open containers of alcohol inside the van along with rolls of toilet paper and adult magazines with several of the pages stuck together.
