Marilyn Manson accuser Ashley Morgan has recanted her allegations

As reported by Billboard, Ashley Morgan Smithline, one of the women who accused Marilyn Manson of sexual assault in 2021 alongside Evan Rachel Wood, has now claimed that her allegations were false and that she was manipulated by Wood into making them. Smithline's statement was filed by Manson's lawyers in his defamation lawsuit against Wood, in which he accuses her of conspiring against him.

In the sworn statement, Smithline alleges that she was pressured by Wood and her associates to make false accusations of rape and assault against Manson. She claims that she came to believe that what had allegedly happened to Wood and others had also happened to her. However, a spokesperson for Wood has denied these accusations, stating that it was Smithline who contacted Wood about the abuse she had suffered.

Two years ago, Wood publicly accused Manson of abuse, and four other women came forward with separate allegations at the same time. Manson denied the accusations and called them "horrible distortions of reality." Smithline sued Manson in 2021, but her lawsuit was dismissed earlier this year.
