Ex-War On Women drummer accused of secretly filming children in his home

Update: We've received the following clarification from the War On Women camp:

"Mr. Tiemann was never a member of War On Women. He was only a hired studio musician to support on drums during the recording of Capture The Flag LP. Mr. Tiemann was never involved with WOW in any other capacity."

A Maryland music teacher, recently found dead, stands accused of surreptitiously filming underage students in his home during private music lessons.

According to WMAR-2 News, Baltimore County resident Scott Tiemann, who reportedly committed suicide in April, taught music at the University of Maryland Baltimore County in addition to several area private schools. Tiemann, age 46, was a onetime member of Baltimore hardcore punk band War On Women, with whom he recorded their 2018 album, Capture the Flag (Bridge Nine Records). Tiemann also spent time in Thrushes and AVEC, among other groups.

The secret recordings allegedly took place between January and April of this year at Tiemann's Pikesville home. Police haven't shared where Tiemann's cameras were located or if the targeted students were male or female, but they have confirmed that his victims were children.

Last month the Park School in Pikesville shared a letter to the community regarding the allegations. A portion of the missive reads as follows:

"This is distressing news, and we all must be mindful of the range of effects on community members both here at school and throughout the Baltimore community. At this time, police have not confirmed that any Park students who participated in lessons at Tiemann's home appear in the recorded images. Investigators are working to identify the children in the recordings, and our understanding is that they will reach out directly to the parents of those children. If you have questions about the information in the press release, we encourage you to contact Baltimore County Police investigators at 410.887.6777. It is important to note that we do not expect that the police will share information about students' identities with the school, as a matter of privacy. Recording individuals without their knowledge represents a fundamental betrayal of trust that impacts not only Tiemann's victims and their families, but members of the greater community."
