ex-Danzig bassist Howie Pyro dies

R.I.P.

Howie Pyro (née Howard Kusten), co-founder of New York City punk band D Generation and former bassist for Danzig, passed away yesterday, May 4. He was 61. A representative for Pyro said that he died of complications from Covid-related pneumonia and liver disease.

In addition to helping launch D Generation in the 1990s, Pyro collaborated with a slew of artists, including Rancid, Debbie Harry, and Joey Ramone. He was a member of Glenn Danzig's namesake band Danzig from 2000 until 2003 and played bass on the group's I Luciferi album, released in 2002.
