ex-Skrewdriver bassist Merv Shields dies from 'Covid complications'
Mervyn Shields, former bassist of white supremacist band Skrewdriver, was laid to rest on January 12 in Northern Ireland after passing way from complications of Covid-19.
Originally existing in the late-70s, UK punk group Skrewdriver were resurrected in 1982 with a new line-up and subsequently aligned themselves with various white nationalist and neo-Nazi groups. 'Big Merv' Shields appeared on at least two of the band's albums for notorious German record label Rock-O-Rama. The band dissolved in 1993 following the death of leader Ian Stuart Donaldson.
Shields, in his late 50s and a father of two, reportedly suffered from various health ailments prior to his passing.
