Vaccination will be required to attend concerts in New York City
New COVID-19 mitigation efforts were announced Tuesday by Bill de Blasio, mayor of New York City, that will require proof of vaccination to enter restaurants, gyms, and indoor concerts and performances. This new guidance, which de Blasio dubbed "Key to NYC Pass," will begin taking effect in mid-August and then will officially be enforced starting September 13th.
"It is time for people to see vaccinations as literally necessary to living a good, full and healthy life," de Blasio said during the news conference. "If you're unvaccinated, unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in many things."
Proof of vaccination can be provided by means of either a vaccination card, the NYC COVID SAFE app, or the NYS Excelsior Pass Wallet.
As it stands, about 70 percent of all adults in New York City have received at least one vaccination (which is all that's required for the new mandate), and 66 percent are fully vaccinated.
