72 year-old Grindmother returns with System Of A Down cover

Canadian grindcore band fronted by 72 year-old namesake vocalist Grindmother have released their own version of the 2001 System Of A Down track "Forest." A video for the song, which features a guest backing band "comprised" of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders and Jagmeet Singh, is available now via Youtube: Guitarist Rain Forest comments: "My Mom and I recorded this song back in 2018, but I never finished the music until now. A few months ago I decided to try writing completely different drum beats for the song and at that point it really started to take on a life of its own." Grindmother began her grindcore career in 2015, when a video of her trying to scream into a microphone went viral. Several months later, she released the song "Any Cost" which featured music by her son Rain Forest. The pair recorded a full album Age of Destruction in 2016 and toured periodically over the next two years.
