Killswitch Engage album 'Atonement' debuts in Top 15

While they missed the Top 10 this time around, Killswitch Engage still managed to put forth an impressive commercial showing for a metal album in 2019. Their new album, Atonement, sold roughly 25,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release, landing at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 chart. Notably, Atonement debuted at No. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart, No. 1 on the Independent Albums chart, No. 2 on the Top Current Albums chart, and No. 1 on the Digital Albums chart, all career bests for the band. Atonement is the band's first album for Metal Blade Records following a roughly eighteen-year stint with Roadrunner Records that included three Top 10 debuts and two Gold records. Killswitch's previous album, 2016's Incarnate, bowed at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, still the band's best chart showing to date. The album sold around 33,000 copies in its first week. Its predecessor, Disarm The Descent (2013), sold 48,000 copies in its debut week, landing at No. 7 on the Billboard 200.
