Sorceress, the latest album from Swedish rock/metal act Opeth, sold roughly 16,000 copies in its first week of release in the United States, good enough to debut at No. 24 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Hard Rock Albums charts.
The band's previous album, Pale Communion (2014), debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of roughly 13,000. Opeth's 2011 release, Heritage, also bowed at No. 19 on the aforementioned charts, but sold around 19,000 copies in its debut week.
