Architects fans raise over $41,000 on behalf of Tom Searle

Tom Searle of Architects band dies Following the late-August death of Architects guitarist Tom Searle, who succumbed to cancer at age 28, a fundraising campaign was initiated by Searle's family to raise funds for The Martlets Hospice, the UK facility responsible for much of his care. In less than two weeks, Marlets has received more than 1,163 donations totalling over $41,000. It's the largest amount ever raised for the hospice via an online fundraising page. Sally Brighton, Director of Income Generation, has issued the following statement:
"Whilst the fundraising is amazing, we cannot lose sight of the tragedy of Tom's death. Ourthoughts are with his family, friends and fans at this desperately sad time. "We hope that all who loved him will find some comfort in seeing how many people have been moved to donate to Martlets. It is truly humbling. "The funds raised will help Martlets to continue providing hospice care for local people and their families when they need us most. We are extremely grateful for everyone's support."

This is such awesome news. It is a beautiful thing when people are willing to give so much and that giving will help so many people in the future.

I came looking for negative comments from basement dwelling failures, and I found none. I'm not disappointed. Glad this was your biggest concern with this situation. A man loses his life and you head to scout message boards instead of donating or doing something useful. Classy

Well, since everyone seems to have forgotten what website this is... It's a shame that all that money went to a good cause and not to some mid-American lowlifes claiming to have been robbed in St. Louis or a thirty-something have not looking for a quick re-up before cee lo in the motel.
