Griffin Kolinski, vocalist of Arizona metal band Apparitions and former bassist of inactive Arizona deathcore outfit Knights of the Abyss, passed away yesterday. Cause of death has yet to be revealed, though it's worth noting that Kolinski had heart surgery in December of 2013 during which he had a pacemaker implanted. Apparitions say that he "hasn't been feeling well as of recently due to his surgery several months ago." Their statement is as follows:

Some of us can only count our true friends on one hand and I am so thankful that you were always someone I could count on for laughs and real talk. All the times I spent with you were priceless, you truly are an irreplaceable soul and for that it hurts like hell to see you go.
Dang that's crazy. He used to be the homie back when he was in The Blood Countess...wasn't even aware he was in either of these projects. Rest in Power buddy, you were a good dude, glad we got to party at least once before you started going through all this.

I very distinctly remember this guy from KOTA and I thought he was awesome and always had hilarious jokes. Really bummed about this :( Rest in peace, Griff!
