Ten years ago Buffalo, New York's It Dies Today was one of the most popular metalcore bands around (their debut full-length The Caitiff Choir has sold nearly 90,000 copies to date). However, in 2006 frontman Nicholas Brooks exited the group and things seemed to go downhill from there, culminating in the band commencing an indefinite hiatus in 2010.
Fast forward to Ferbruary 2014, and It Dies Today announced that they were back in the studio recording material for a new album. Notably, it was also revealed that Nick Brooks was back in the band.
Today, Lambgoat is exclusively debuting the initial fruits of their labor, a new demo track titled "Son of Dawn, Brilliant Star," the first new song in eight years from this lineup. You can stream it right now here:
To coincide with the song premiere, It Dies Today has also announced that they will play a limited batch of shows to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of The Caitiff Choir.
Brooks comments:
"I honestly could not be happier to have the opportunity to not only play shows with these dudes again but to write and record a new album with them as well. This has been such a humbling experience thus far, our fans are so insanely supportive.
They have really inspired us to want to play music together again and play this album in its entirety in a live setting. We all are just so thankful to get the chance to write a new chapter for this band."
The following tour dates have been announced thus far, with more in the works:
9/5 Poughkeepsie, NY @ The Chance w/ Come The Dawn
9/6 Albany, NY @ Bogies w/ Come The Dawn
9/12 Amityville, NY @ Revolution w/ Scare Don't Fear
9/13 Providence, RI @ Simons 677
9/19 Pittsburgh, PA @ Altar Bar
9/20 Buffalo, NY @ The Waiting Room
more TBA

Post Commentnever really listened to the band before but this song is decent
Great band! So few good ones anymore, we're lucky some still sticking around.
I cant even count how many times I listened to their stuff over the years. We sure are lucky to have new stuff. I raise my glass to their comeback!
Thank you for drinking. Also this rules; metalcore, welcome back. Re: "I cant even count how many times I listened to their stuff over the years. We sure are lucky to have new stuff. I raise my glass to their comeback!"
New track rocks! If you ever find yourselves back in the UK, I'm there!
Not the best material they've ever put out. Not bad though. Hopefully they play more from Caitiff Choir and Forever Scorned in Albany. I can get behind this song though.
anonymous 1 hour ago SO BASS, I'm crying. Stoked. LOL.
I'm proud to say this is my cousins band. My first show was It Dies Today -- 320+ turnout for an AA show featuring a few local bands. I suppose one could call that a scene.
Someone grabbed my bottom at the last It Dies Today show in Mass. My instinct was to punch him in the face, when I turned around it was just Ken (from UNEARTH) playing air guitar to a song off "The Caitiff Choir" (his fav. non-UNEARTH metalcore album).
just don't try to drink their beer. they will put up passive aggressive signs that say "headliners only"
Mirusso is one of the sickest drummers out there, only Doug Court, Adam Gray, and Luke Holland are better.
awesome. now a reformation of haste the day, from autumn to ashes and still remains, then tour together. welcome back to 2005.
NO HE'S NOT. I did here that some of his stuff is Studio corrected.
Hes is a really tight drummer, but is both straight and gay.
Unless this is some form of black metal recorded with a potato that sounds like it's being listened to out of a handheld radio after a nuclear bomb was dropped on it then I couldn't care less.
Demos released before the finished track are always good. Then the actual track comes out and it's so overly produced and polished it's unlistenable.
Good band, pretty excited to hear more new stuff.
I never listened to this band back then and am not about to start now. They were one of 700 bands with the word Today in their band name.
One of the best tracks I've this year. One of the best tracks I've this year. One of the best tracks I've this year. One of the best tracks I've this year. One of the best tracks I've this year. One of the best tracks I've this year. One of the best tracks I've this year.
Bands need to stay broken up. Enough of this nostalgic crap.
Ridiculous!!.. Can't wait to hear the rest of the new album. Well done IDT.
Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for some west coast tour dates!!

fck anyone who hates this go back and listen to your new shitty bands we wont have our scene die!
Hey u haters fck you and your little gay Of Mice and dicks, Asking Alexandria, and whatever other lame ass new boy band wanna be metal bands are popular. Good music always comes back. If u dont like it such a fat one!
I feel like if they did the forever scorned sound they would be pretty big to metalcore kids under 20. Song has too much singing
If u dont like it such a fat one! If u dont like it such a fat one! If u dont like it such a fat one! If u dont like it such a fat one! If u dont like it such a fat one! If u dont like it such a fat one! If u dont like it such a fat one! If u dont like it such a fat one! If u dont like it such a fat one! P.S. This band is and has always been the equivalent of molten shit.
Sorry but how is this different from Atreyu and all the newer shitty metalcore bands ppl on this website despise??
everyone of these home bodies has a fifties greaser hair do. gay. since when is hair products or even having a hair do metal or hc at all. these guys are a bunch of metrosexyals. If i need exposure to real men ill talk to the semi literate construction worker around the block. if i want to hear a bunch of washed up sissies try and posture ill call these guys for sure. hipster flip
This band has been my favorite band (with Nick Brooks in it at least) for almost a decade now. I'm more than stoked to hear the entire rest of the album. This song is exactly what I was looking forward to hearing. fck everyone who wants to bring you down. Only acknowledge the positive. Your fans, new or old, are all you need hear. Tour with Attila.
LOL that's what a metalcore band full of mid-30-year-olds looks like?
It's funny how most who posted like this band. And those are not greaser haircuts idiots. Some of them are actually married and have jobs, they can't just look like a bunch of longhair or baldheaded bums with bushy beards their whole lives. So now everybody has to look a certain way to play music or age? GTFO! All you shitalkers are the most conformist people out there. Why even comment if they are so irrelevant to u.
they definitely look old as hell now. guy in the grey shirt looks like a 40 year old mechanic. far right guy looks like a pizza cook from new york
the 'tour with Atilla' comment was definitely from a band member. Way to try and stay relevant by name dropping. Them mad dogs wouldn't dare have pensioners like you on the bill. Has been gays. Get me a large coke and fries with that burger.
me at 14 is stoked, me at 24 is more stoked. Dudes that are too cool for metalcore are pissed.
can someone please drop the braindrill nutsack comment on this?
GODDAMNIT! I was so into this until the quiet part
Apparently someone thought because I said, "Tour with Attila," that makes me a band member... lol I wish. Way to be an idiot.
This is excellent, I'm so pumped I'm almost crying with excitement!

Attila sucks and you mean It dies today should not tour with such a shit band. Tour with Still Remains and Norma Jean!

Made one passable album and just cant let it go. Its over
me at 14 is stoked, me at 24 is more stoked. Dudes that are too cool for metalcore are pissed. You've had dogshit taste in music for 10 years running. Embarrassing
Great band, glad to see they are back together! The Caitiff Choir brings back a lot of memories of high school!
Oh wow, I just realized this story was from 2014. Why in the world is this showing up as "trending"? LG get your act together!
