As scheduled, As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis appeared before a San Diego judge earlier today in Vista, CA for a preliminary hearing. And as expected, Lambesis has been bound over for trial. In other words, the conditions of his bail remain and he will now stand trial for attempting to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Robert Kearney handed down his decision after several hours of testimony by prosecution witnesses, including an undercover officer who posed as a hitman. According to the detective, Lambesis told him, "Just to make it clear, I do want her dead."
Lambesis will be arraigned on October 22, at which time a date for his trial will be set.
UPDATE: According to a report from NBCsandiego.com, investigators searching the home of Tim Lambesis after his arrest "found dozens of vials of what appeared to be steroids" in his bedroom, in addition to roughly $12,000 in cash.
Homicide investigators found a lock box in Lambesis' Carlsbad home containing "a lot of different quantities" of male enhancement-type drugs, male libido-type drugs and estrogen blocking drugs, Det. John Buckley with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department testified.
There were approximately 30 to 40 vials along with different types of pill packages with more than $12,000 in cash, the detective said.
