We Are Defiance (Tragic Hero Records) were involved in a van accident this weekend which left their vocalist briefly hospitalized. The group apparently flipped their van after encountering black ice near Madisonville, KY.
Band members escaped with minor scratches and bruises, with the exception of singer Brian Calzini, who had to be extracted from the van by rescue personnel, and subsequently received 15 stiches after undergoing minor surgery. Calzini had the following to say yesterday evening:
"To be put through one of the scariest moments in my life and the worst pain I've ever experienced, it's amazing to see how much support I have from AMAZING friends, family and fans. Of course there's haters out there saying 'we got what we deserved,' 'van flip jokes' ect., but last night I realized how short life can be and how easy it can be taken away from you in a blink of an eye. People who waste their lives being so pissed all the time for no good reason no longer make me mad but now make me sad. I feel bad for those people, I hope one day they wake up realized life is too short for all that bullshit. The love and support me and my band have outweighs the negative comments a few haters have. My life almost ended last night so I refuse waste any more of my time on negative people. I wanna make the best of this life I have and continue to travel the world playing music and meeting/making new friends."
