The fact you have some hatred for it honestly one of the weirdest and goofy things to me. Especially because you love emo and depressing shit and the amount of incredible depressing emotional black metal records there are is crazy.

Generally speaking black metal lacks dynamics. It's one-dimensional. It's the same thing the whole way through. Its why I also don't really listen to grindcore. That bores me. I like ups and downs and changes and a variety of sounds. Also a reason why I don't like much of this newer metal stuff. That's production-wise, though. Well bad songwriting too. But everything is pushed to the top of the mix, it's just loud, there is no dynamics.
