He was probably in a bottom tier metalcore band and is embarrassed, cut him some slack

You're not supposed to ask about pay?

Kvin 2/11/2022 6:22:06 AM
Personal opinion, but pay should only be discussed if the employer chooses to bring them back for more interviews. No other interviewee for this position has asked about pay.

I think pay is worth mentioning on the first interview. I'm not going to waste my time on a second interview if we're worlds apart.

ej 2/11/2022 7:38:57 AM
yeah i'd feel like im about to get lowballed if they didnt want to discuss $$$

VodkaVeins 2/11/2022 7:50:35 AM
If its frowned upon to discuss pay at the interview its a shit job with shit management

RAGINGFUCKMAN 2/11/2022 7:52:23 AM
you not only hire him, you give him the highest position you can

Kvin 2/11/2022 8:28:50 AM
Lol I was always taught that traditionally talking about pay on the first interview is taboo. The guy who trained me compared it to dating and sex, and if I remember correctly phrased it something like "Finding the right employee is like finding the right woman to marry." then tossed out a comparison that now and days would get someone fired

RAGINGFUCKMAN 2/11/2022 8:33:10 AM
thats how it used to be, honestly, these days, i've had a lot of job interviews (first interviews) where they tell you the pay rate.

dayman 2/11/2022 8:53:50 AM

iwilladapt 2/11/2022 9:24:38 AM

I guess it depends on the type of work you're interviewing for...but, i'd be hesitant to apply for a job that didnt have a pay range in the listing. School district jobs are very clear about the entirety of the pay scale, though...and even the non-union admin arent getting any individually granted raises. Its all public information what we make.
