Orange County, California's Atreyu formed in the Summer of 1999 from the ashes of a punk band Dan (guitar), Brandon (drums), and Alex (vocals) were in. Following several line-up changes, their roster was solidified with the addition of Travis (guitar) and Chris (bass). Soon after playing their first show, the group recorded and released a 7 song demo CD. After shopping the demo (which they aren't too proud of, looking back) around to labels, and getting rejected repeatedly, Arteyu returned to the studio to record five new song for another self-release. As luck would have it though, North Carolina's Tribunal Records enjoyed the CD, "Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty," and decided to release it themselves in late-2001. The recording eventually found its way to Victory Records, which promptly agreed to a multi-record deal with the group. read less
