What happens to hardcore kids when they get older Aside from the inevitable baldness, fatness, and tattoo regret, the answer is normally quite simple: they start playing rock music. Cave In did it. Cable did it. Every Time I Die did it. Blacklisted is on their way. Kudos to the old-timers who have stuck it out and continue to open up pits well past their thirties, but there's definitely a direct correlation between age and the hardcore scene. Take She Rides as the perfect example. It's comprised of a couple of older guys who have put in their shifts in the hardcore world (the most notable of which is ex-Bury Your Dead singer Joe Krewko), but choose to instead focus more on rock grooves, tons of melodic lead work, and a simple "fuck it" mentality. Is it revolutionary Nope. Does it accomplish anything that the current era of hardcore-tinged rock acts (The Bronx, Cancer Bats, ETID, etc.) have missed Not really. But is it catchy Absolutely. And despite having moved on from their hardcore roots, the best tracks on this record are the ones that pay the most tribute to old school bands like Black Flag and a slew of other DC punk acts. "Tore up from the Floor Up" is a Minor Threat anthem beefed up with scratchy guitar solos. Venture past the main rock riff of "Coke Frenzy" and you'll find a raw dose of 90s metallic hardcore to appreciate. Sure, there's a ton of rock elements that are front and center, but there's definitely a coarse hardcore mentality waiting to be discovered if you dig deep enough. I suspect that I enjoy the wrong parts of this record. All of the big southern rock riffs (see "Party in the Piss Kitchen," "Sleeping with Zombies," and "Never Dull, Never Boring") and drinking/smoking/party lyrics just feel like they're getting in the way of what could otherwise be a stellar gritty old school hardcore record. Don't get me wrong -- the rock touches do need to be in there to provide a unique sound -- but I'm just not feeling the pure quantity with which they show up on this album. The abrasive recording gives these guys a big leg up on bands like Cancer Bats and Gallows, and I love it when their strong hardcore influences accidentally steal the spotlight, but this probably won't hold the attention of too many outside the southern-rock-meets-hardcore fan base. Bottom Line: The guys in She Rides put on a few years and decided to make some rock tunes instead of their usual hardcore fare. But the problem is that with The Bronx, ETID, Gallows, and Cancer Bats already well-established, the old school hardcore moments of this record feel a lot more enjoyable than the rock ones. It's catchy and it's as rough around the edges as it should be, but it's just not clicking too strongly with me.

This is the worst review I have ever read of anything. Im sure the band sucks but that has nothing to do with it. I am much more concerned about the reviewers take on what hardcore eventually leads to. Inevitable baldness, fatness, and tattoo regret?
