Post CommentThese guys kill it! Seen them with Unearth. There is supposibly members of Candiria & Machine Head in it, but I dont recognize any. Not hardcore at all. Well it has it's elements I guess, but overall this is a metal album as far as I'm concerned. It rocks though. Dark lyrics and tight musicianship with heavy, catchy entombed (circa Wolverine Blues) grooves and thrashy riffs in it. I love it. Recomended. 8 1/2 - 9
Subzero is suprisingly unique and talented. I think their drummer was in Machine Head, Madball... and maybe even Testmanet for a while? No joke. I could be wrong though.
Yea, I heard the same thing, but didnt know who was in what. Thanks. Do you know what MH album he was on?
Their drummer - Walter Ryan - did some temp drumming for Machine Head live, between the time Chris Kontos left (after "Burn My Eyes") and before Dave McClain joined(before "The More Things Change was recorded). He did quite a few gigs in Europe, but I think that was about it.
He was also is Possessed years ago. Bay area black metal/thrash kings for all of you youngins who think I'm speaking Japanese. Ahh So. :)
No, he was never a "real" member of Machine Head. Like the other guy said, he was just a one-tour fill-in drummer. And he wasn't that good either. And it doesn't have any members of Candiria either. Eddie Ortiz was asked to join, but then fired before any recording could take place. So there.
Eddie Ortiz was in Cattlepress, God Is I (with Jorge from Merauder and Mike from Candiria, great band w/ 1 demo), and he also wrote songs for The Dying Light who just put out their new album. He is seriously into good metal which is why his riffs slay.
just a clarification, eddie ortiz is indeed recording with candiria as we speak. the other guy steve, is no longer with the group. subzero rock the f*cken house!
not hardcore at all? nah they've only been doing this for almost 20 years.. walter ryan is a great drummer..
OK, here's my little review because I rule and everyone has no choice but to listen to me because why? I rule. 1st. Ortiz has in fact joined Candiria and is involved with writing their new album while other Cattlepress/The Dying Light guitarist Joe Capizzi who is equally as crushing as Ortiz takes his place permanently in Subzero. Ortiz is always on the Harmony Central boards if you need to know. I've never seen them with Ortiz, but I recently did see them play with Capizzi 2 times and they ow
holy shit your writing sucks. seriously, are you dyslexic, or is English your second language?
Sorry, yes actually it is my second language being from Sweden. But, I think I do pretty well considering. So go f*ck yourself and stick to the topic rich boy. DRA!
post an mp3 and i might be able to jock this band. not everyone has the time to sit in front of soulseek waiting for one of you gayg0ls to share this.
This review is awful. Webby, get someone who knows English to write them plz.
An ok review. More of a history lesson than what the band really sounds like. Spelling and all that I don't give a shit about. My god, talk about being rear. I just want to know the deal. It doesn't give the band or the cd justice. All I have to say is that I saw Subzero with At The Gates and Napalm Death in NY a while back and they were pretty good. I saw them 2 weeks ago in Poughkeepsie as they happend to be on the bill and they were amazing! Got the cd and can't stop listening to it. I'm a ne
I think that review is pretty DAMN accurate...there is something very raw and emotional about this recording..and what better way to reach out to new and old fans, then to write from personal experiences..god know this record is F**King brutal..my personal favorite is your love songs..Swingin from the noose..yeah you aint worth it!! haha..love you guys..xoxox see ya at the next show..NYHC
So, when this is described as "metal," are you all actually referring to metallic hardcore with redundant, boring song structures and annoying, overused breakdowns? Or, possibly, is this actually decent metal?
Drummer played in Madball and worked security at my old job- nice guy.
Wow someone pulled out a reference to that Subzero/At the Gates/Napalm Death show back in 96. I think that was at 7 willow street or somthing. That really brings me back to the good ole days. Subzero rocked then, and there rock now. As for all you haters of the Hardcore scene in general, you probably were'nt around for anything. The scene isn't just about the music, it's a family. Lu is one of the nicest guys in the scene, and he's been doing his thing for years. Even if you don't dig the music,
^^This seperation of "then" and "now" needs to go. I don't give two shits if a hardcore band has been around forever, that doesn't give them a free pass when it comes to making music. If a band makes catchy music but has no heart, I can't listen to it. Unfortunately that doesn't work in reverse. A band can have all the heart in the world, but if their music is just a copy of a copy of what's in the scene, integrity and reputation isn't going to save it in my eyes.
this album sounds like shit, they could have done a much better job
first post. hardcore is dead.
