garunteed the new Bane will get atleast an 8 or above on here even though Above This Fire is atleast 10x more interesting than they are. Above This Fire sticks to the roots better than most hardcore bands and cross it with metalcore and pull it off better than most. I recommend this cd to anyone who likes Trial, The Hope Conspiracy, Paint The Town Red, and old Caliban. Another shitty lambgoat review.
hah. so this band is more orginal than bane? hah. first off, no one is doing anything orginal, or has been for the last twenty years. with that said, bane is intensely more talented than above this fire. this mp3 at the bottom of the page sounds like something trustill is gonna pick up in about five minutes. think what you will from that statement.

this cd is good. it's great actually. listen for yourselves. don't let one person decide for you what you should and shouldn't listen to. he obviously likes or or he wouldn't have written "For every negative I find about this band and their album In Perspective, I find something else that keeps me from turning the record off." BOTTOM LINE: GET THIS CD.
I agree with what he says about the CD being boring caused by very similar song structures in almost every song. The band has talent, but has yet to reach their peak. I think their next release will be the real test of this bands potential. They should try adding some more experimental elements in their music, and possibly some more diverse lyric ideas. Other than that, cool dudes, crazy live show.

Cory is probably one of the better reviewers on the site. I listened to this track and there is definately nothing noteworthy about it. They are solid musicians and seeing them live is probably fun. Im sure that everyone standing up for them is probably a "merch guy" or someone from their region. PS - if you haven't noticed, lambgoat is defiantely a bunch of old metalheads rather than hardcore kids.
I don't get where people get some of these comments from. Honestly. By the way, as much as Castlevania II rules, if you're in a metalcore band and you use the same quote as one of the biggest, most popular bands in the genre, you're either ripping them off or you lack creativity. It's entirely possible that is the case, as Above This Fire definitely lacks creativity.
Sounds like someone has a personal vendentta as this isn't the first time you've expressed your hatred for the band. I've know these guys for years and they've been nothing but the nicest of guys. Sure this album isn't 100% original, but these days nothing is. Hell you gave ALOL a high score and all they do is completely rip off Meshuggah. black dahlia murder isn't metalcore. above this fire are c-cky rockstars. corey sucks, but this review (although blatantly vindictive) is pretty accurate. who knows what bands corey will favor when the next trend comes by and who knows what sound above this fire will have then too.

this is a very accurate review. their song writing is comparable to an 8th grader's. it is like they spent no time and effort on this record. they tried to be different than all of the other bands in thier genre, whom which all sound the same, by changing thier vocals and it sounds terrible. they are just another band in the second coming of "new-metal" or metalcore, which ever you prefer, who are happy w/ themselves when they make shitty, predictable, unintellingent music for scenesters and

this former rap metal band is aweful. i am sorry. Cleveland was a hardcore empire at one point and its amazing to see the uninspired crap that it shits out now. Then again I could go see grandpa Integrity play another "reunion" show. Strap on your white belt because hardcore is dead.

District 5 is not good. Also, there was already a band called District 5 from Cleveland. They played rapcore. They were kinda good at the time.

Parade of Chaos is still a great record. Maybe an 8 and not a 9, but hindsight is always 20/20 and Above This Fire is still mediocre.

I disagree with this review. I mean, let the author think what he wants - to each his own, I just disagree and think to some extent this article is misleading. This band isn't unoriginal in any way, they don't lack creativity, and song stucture/instrumental talent is something they've really got working for them. I think that everyone should at least give the album a fair listen, notably "miles apart" or "burn the daylights out". It's pretty good stuff. and to whoever said that they are "c-ck

Bottom Line: I think most people will be surprised by the brilliance of this album and the growing popularity to come for Atreyu. As a band that most people thought would never amount to much out of the ordinary, Atreyu has proven themselves time and time again, and has kept winning over more fans with every show they play. I highly recommend that anyone searching for a great new band out of the millions of "new" bands coming out, go out and pick up "Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses
Above This Fire will always have my support. I believe they're one of a kind and really the only band holding the Cleveland scene together right now. I respect them 100 percent and I absolutely love this album. Until xLebronJamesxAD finally starts playing out, ATF will remain my favorite OH band...

The cleveland scene is great. depends if your going to a hardcore show or going to some gay emo show. i know alot of the kids and hey all know each other. theres alot of unity. and District five don't have to be good. they are a fun band and that's all that matters and names for graves are the shit!
If I could read or speak, some of this would be really interesting. im from cleveland and the scene does suck, not sound like an old man but it used to be so much better. It had meaning, the bands where somewhat original and they had something to say, even if it wasn't popular. Hardcore has become an image with kids with gun tattoos who would shit there pants if they ever saw a gun in person.

excellent review! While it may be a little persoanlly biased, musically it was right on target! Cant wait until the scene goes back to what it used to be. Before these kids couldn't go to shows, b/c it was too late for thier soccer moms to make the drive. ATF make good music. Its true that they arent the most innovative band, but i certainly would never make the ridiculous claim that they are jerks or sellouts. Their music is highly enjoyable with lots of energy and is pretty distinctive.
i am listening to this record. it's not band, but it's not the kind of thing I'm going to playing regularly in 6 months. 6.5/10. A 7 could be acheived with more black people.
