Victory Records sold for roughly $30 million

Monday, September 30, 2019 9:13 AM PT

After three decades releasing punk, hardcore, and rock albums, Tony Brummel has sold Victory Records along with his publishing catalog, Another Victory, to Concord.

Billboard estimates the deal to have been worth between $27 and $34 million. (Billboard further estimates that Victory earned roughly $4.5 million in yearly revenue).

Launched in 1989, Victory has sold more than 15 million albums and maintains an extensive catalog (including material from Taking Back Sunday, Snapcase, Between The Buried And Me, and Hatebreed, among countless others).

Yet Tony nor his artists are capable of paying their booking agent for hard work.

"Yet Tony nor his artists are capable of paying their booking agent for hard work."

Why would Tony pay a booking agent nor would it be his problem if bands on his label weren't?

anonymous
9/30/2019 11:35:01 AM
Half of that should go to ADTR, Atreyu, and Thursday.

anonymous
9/30/2019 11:45:28 AM
Because Tony and his artists made money while hiring a third party yet couldn't pay, again while he profited off of another's hard work. How on earth is that logically not his problem when the tour booked was his labels label tour? Or any artist on Victory?

At what age do you suppose Tony started losing his hair in order to warrant shaving it like that? 12 years old? 13?

anonymous
9/30/2019 1:02:21 PM
It's the BANDS job to pay the agent for the shows he/her booked, not Tony.

Donovan defending Tony's neo-nazi ways by deleting comments. No backbones to be found at Lambgoat, but I guess you can say that for the entirety of the poser hardcore community

When an artist approves to be on a tour and the label approves the tour as a label tour, both are at fault not paying what they owe. I must be going back an forth with an employee. I still have the old emails from artists and label employees

New DTF? don't get our hopes up! I know they reformed for the Darkest Hour 20th anniversary but haven't heard anything about them making any new music...

All those bands on there must be stoked! Just think about the equity all the VR bands are going to get to cash out on! Easily more than $200K payouts to every band that has ever been on the label. That's incredible!

9/30/2019 9:30:35 PM
Concord haven't been making planes for a while so I guess they need another revenue stream.

Im sure yall are down here messing around in the comments but DAMN I swear at this point metalcore has gone the way of hair metal, shit is dead and will probably live on through young kids finding old pictures of scene kids and chugcore bros and asking "WTF were you guys on"

I think i speak for every musician whos ever been on that suckers label when i say, we were really hoping hed die with nothing. His life has been too easy... Robbing fcking children and young men/women of their money and hard work. Die a horrible death, Tony.

They played Cobra Lounge in Chicago last year and played a new song called 'Short Runway.' Shit was basically blast beats and hair metal. They've said they're working on new material, but have not formerly released anything yet.

I can't wait for that neo-nazi loser, Tony, to die. Delete this comment you yellow bellied coward!! Donovan always trying to support his nazi friends in the music industry. This whole scene is without an ounce of integrity

Victory's 30-person staff will remain employed by Brummel, who sources say has a "limited" non-compete clause that will allow him to pursue opportunities in the music business going forward, if he so chooses. The staff will work on Brummel's other businesses which includes a third-party merch business, plus some real estate and other investments. Also, they will be involved in assisting with on-boarding Victory's catalog and royalty payments onto Concord's platform over the next few months.

Yea sadly don't have very high expectations for new material from them at this point. They peaked on Villainy and Virtue imho and everything has been downhill from there...

LOL/SMH @ Jamey Jasta whining about how he hopes Hatebreed, Strife etc. receive bonuses from the sale of Victory.

Hey Jamey, you were paid your bonus, it's called A CAREER IN MUSIC. Which you would not have if not for Victory Records. So STFU you bitter bitch.

No Victory, no Hatebreed signing to a major label.

If you got fcked by Tony it's your fault for not having a good lawyer or a lawyer period. Handshake deal Victory ended in 1993/94/95.

anonymous
10/2/2019 4:16:50 AM
If Tony was/is such a scumbag then why did TERROR sign with Victory many years after Victory left the hardcore station? And fcked overScott Vogel's Buried Alive?

anonymous
10/2/2019 4:27:33 AM
I could see Lord Ezec saying "yo pay me Skar Head a bonus or else" to Tony and if I were Tony I'd warn Ezec "you come near me I'll kill you for real." Tony should shoot him dead.

Yeah LOL @ Jamey Shanahan (his real last name) wanting a bonus almost two decades after Shitbreed's major label debut.

anonymous
10/2/2019 4:47:00 PM
Don't wish to see him dead but his artists and himself paying those that did all they could like me simply out of passion in the hopes of making a few bucks to buy art supplies and pay for college. Instead hard work for nothing while he works out a deal where he never has to work again

anonymous
10/2/2019 4:50:29 PM
Not to mention those artists contracts with Victory...90/10 split on records, the artists don't even make anything unless hitting it big like ADTR only to have money withheld and lawsuits to simply be paid correctly.

anonymous
10/3/2019 5:36:29 PM
^ Uhhhh let's say those 90% Victory 10% artist contracts existed...whose fault is that? The bands. No one put a gun to a band's head to sign that shit deal. HTF do you accept only 10% of every record sold? You're desperate and dumb and deserve to be exploited.
