As I Lay Dying premiere new song and music video

Friday, April 12, 2019 5:28 AM PT

As expected, As I Lay Dying have dropped a new song titled "Redefined." The song features guest vocals from August Burns Red frontman Jake Luhrs and its music video can be found below.

Frontman Tim Lambesis comments: "I want to thank Jake Luhrs for doing vocals on Redefined with me! It was so much fun having him over at my home studio and I got to engineer his vocals myself. He is a true pro with incredible range!"

Hahahahaha. Breakdown riff is What Will You Find by Zao (Tim can't claim ignorance because it is from the album he produced)

look at that. told you the metalcore community has fallen in line. doing guest spots, known names starting to show up on the tour package. this is moving full speed ahead. only crying is here, you lost

notice how they didn't actually get a premiere from a media outlet. media blackout in full effect. Love - Antifa

I've been studying metalcore for years. My professional opinion is that this song will change the genre as we know it. What a gift from Tim and the boys of AILD

anonymous

years of debating over whether AILD ripped off ZAO and now we have the proof

Yeah, guest spots from August Burns Red. Really digging deep there, Tim. Once garbage, forever garbage. Hope they are ready for a B-market tour circuit until they break up in relative obscurity.

I hope that the young bucks in Code Orange are taking notes

yeah guest spots from billboard top ten showing, grammy nominated vocalists who also sell out top venues on multiple continents (same as aild is currently doing, again).

Well, August Burns Red is another band I now know I can not waste time checking out or listening to.

you dont think Blabbermouth or Lambgoat or Loudwire or whoever wouldnt have premiered this? AILD didnt bother cause they dont need to. Like it or not their fans have stayed loyal

anonymous

if their fans were loyal they would be playing bigger venues. you can't deny they have downgraded severely

Just because those soy latte sipping betas at MetalSucks are staging some type of pathetic moral protest doesn't mean the rest of the world just stops. fck em.

no they haven't. they have sold out everything they played (upgrades) on tune up runs and i've seen the tour package and venues for fall album release headliner. house of blues size floors which is where they were at before the hiatus. they are not going anywhere and will continue to bring in enough income to do this as a full time job.

Nope. false. wrong.
they booked themselves in 200 cap rooms and upgraded to 500 cap rooms.

used to do 2000

anonymous
nope. right. they sold out saint andrews hall (among others) at 1,000 cap per room. and the next US headliner is upgrading venues again. metalcore also isn't as popular with the youth as it was in mid 00s, so selling out these 1,000 cap rooms is decent in 2019

Recycled At The Gates riffs, check.
Compressed production, check.
Vague Jesus-y lyrics, check.
Emo vocal part, check.
Typical AILD garbage hot topic metal song.

Former Christcore guy taps current Christcore guy for guest spot on generic metalcore song, boy they're really shaking things up here aren't they?

Oh and to the brain surgeon thinking August Burns Red is bigger than Jesus: they were following Parkway Drive around North America months ago and Parkway isn't even from here. No bigger than any other potential Metalcore headliner.

why would they shake things up. they've already achieved the successful formula. KSE opens for parkway also. it isn't a slight to open for them. keep grasping at anything you can

anonymous
they have achieved a boring forumla that already is sounding dated and will be delegated to the "why did i listen to that stupid shit when i was young" bin really soon (and kind of already is). they hit their peak years ago. the only reason this stuff is getting traffic is the murder press. once the "reunion novelty" wears off they will be struggling

anonymous
once it wears off? they are poised for another top ten release, grammy nod and multi-continent sold out tour package (top tier genre venues). doesn't matter if everything since oceans is meh, first 3 albums will keep them in the green for next two decades. always love coming here after each aild achievement article to see all the long faces and still scrambling. but ... but... but...

Pretty good. Jordan definitely rocks. AILD may actually gain some steam.

"nice track! working man's metal!"

^ extremely accurate depiction of their hometown fans

And yes, the reunion murder hype will wear off and they will be back to where they were. The kids that like this kind of metalcore are already openly acknowledging that Tim is the worst part of their songs. They're too old to appeal to the crowd their genre is made for lol.

This was really bad, I was expecting a banger of a song but they lost me at the clean vocals.

Mall metal with emo vocal parts. No thanks forever.

"they lost me at the clean vocals"

I would steer far away from the impending LP if you don't like the cleans

this band is so bad/bland. no wonder they sell a lot of records. people like dumb shit. Converge is better/has more integrity. Same with Zao

anonymous
converge is unlistenable trash try hard pretentious douche bags pretend to like. zao until 2004 is passable. nowhere near as good as aild 2001-2007

You thinking Converge is trash is a pretty good indicator of why you think AILD is good

I bet you have some really solid opinions about TDEP

anonymous

huge try hard throwing out another name you pretend to like. mathcore is garbage and bums couldn't retire quick enough. misery signals sucks too

anonymous
Converge is seriously overrated and would easily be 10x better if someone else like Nate did the vocals because Bannon blows. As I Lay Dying are complete garbage without any redeeming qualities and the person who said said people will stop caring soon above is right. The white belt scene kids of their heyday grew up and listen to trap now. Recycled Gothenburg riffs and emo vocal spots don't sell anymore.

People argue over everything. Let me end the argument for all of you. All heavy music is garbage and anyone who listens to any of it is a basement dwelling scumbag. Go fck yourselves.

anonymous

This song seriously sucked. It's surprising that people ever liked this before, but I'm shocked that there's still a market for this besides their mothers.
