ex-The Acacia Strain guitarist helping write new Unearth album

Saturday, January 06, 2018 6:22 AM PT

Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz, original guitarist of The Acacia Strain and their primary songwriter until his 2013 exit from the band, has been assisting Massachusetts metal band Unearth with the writing of their forthcoming album.

On a recent episode of "The Ex Man With Doc Coyle" podcast, Laskiewics had this to say:

"Right now I'm helping, I'm writing riffs with Ken [Susi] & Buz [McGrath] and stuff, I'm helping out writing the new Unearth record."

You can have a listen to the podcast below.

Lyme disease is nothing. How about you carry Sheetrock every day for 10 years and see what kind of chronic back pain you have. Is your Lyme disease bullshit gonna cause you to start getting legit oxys from the dr? You gonna fruitlessly visit chiropractors for years? Your Lyme disease ain't nothing compared to what real men deal with every day

Yeah, hiring/promoting a songwriter to fix your shitty riffs isn't embarrassing in the slightest

The last good album by Unearth was The Stings of Conscience. Their new style direction after that album was too generic and was lost in the sea of other generic metalcore albums.

Slow meshuggah.
Anyway this is smart. Some people just want to compose. Song after song after song. Imagine if century media had 3 or 4 main composers for all the bands and cranked out song after song after song. It would be like pop or kpop. Every song would be awesome.

Guys who don't want to tour but don't want to just produce should really look into doing this more. Should be easy to bank a stable $100k a year as a top metal producer plus bonuses based on royalties. The way bands have done it traditionally is old fashioned and inefficient. It makes no sense for party dudes who love to tour and show off their chops to be sitting in a dark room composing. Division of labor would ensure a more consistent product across the board, period.

bringing in outside writers is some washed up shit. don't admit you are doing it. lame as fck.

"we are admitting we can't even come up with enough good ideas to write our own boring ass music"

DL should write music for Emmure, and join up with Phill to get back Panteria. I herd Madball has an opening spot. Unearth sold out shows before 2014 then stopped. DL partner in crime is Harley Flannagain. Bunch of art tarts.Ever try Bath salts.

Ken Sushi and Buzz Lightyear are what 7 albums in, and NOW they somehow need help writing a record? from a guy who's only experience is seeing how far he can down-tune a guitar before its un-listenable? who's writing technique consists of "BRUH, WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF OPEN A-flat CHUG PATTERNS"
