Jeremy Wagner of Broken Hope donates farm

Jeremy Wagner, guitarist of Illinois death metal band Broken Hope, generously donated an entire farm property to a local animal rescue and rehabilition outfit earlier this week. Wagner had the following to say:

"Today I made the biggest donation of my life. I signed off and gave away my entire farm to the animal rescue/rehab group I've been working with since I purchased the property last summer.

"I'm too busy to manage and enjoy the place, but it does my heart and soul good knowing I have now given a refuge and paradise for many animals who will be given help and love and new homes for many years to come.

"My generosity and goodwill for the benefit of animals will never stop. Giving my farm away for free was a super-huge sacrifice, but it was an awesome one, and it won't be the last time I do it.

"In this life, money doesn't mean shit if you don't do good with it. So I do as much good as I can before I leave this rock. Cheers!"

This is way better than that weird looking wanna be dad from EHtilla who feels the need to show off his trust fund life via pictures of big houses and lame cars. Thumbs up big homie!

I thought you weren't supposed to talk about donating to charity..? Is it just me or does it seem like this dude is patting himself on the back?

For him to donate property it means it's paid off other wise the bank would take what it's owed. So it's not a tax write off its actually an asset. Besides I'm sure he isn't making da gazillions®©¢$

4/9/2015 11:02:15 AM
that's dope.

anonymous
4/9/2015 11:12:49 AM
Not sure why everyone is so worked about this generous donation being a tax write off or not?! Either way, what he did was awesome! You have no idea how many animals' lives have been saved due to this act of kindness.

anonymous
4/9/2015 11:27:10 AM
Hey wrote some books and made some money. Plus having a farm in rural Northern Illinois doesn't mean the dude is stacked with cash by any means. It's quite rad that he did it.

you know what else would save a lot of animal lives? human extinction

4/9/2015 12:24:54 PM
I am shocked and saddened to read some of the comments here. Comments that a good deed be dismissed as a tax right off and someone patting themselves on the back. Instead of bashing someone for the good that they have done, try doing the same.

4/9/2015 1:22:56 PM
Jeremy didn't go public to pat himself on the back, he did it to call attention to rescue. He is making a point, he is letting you all know that we need help - we cant do this by ourselves - we need the recognition, the support, the fosters/adopters and the donations. He is being the voice that these animals and we rescued need. Do yourselves and all a favor, stop being ugly, stop criticizing and start helping.

I like how you guys all think broken hope is raking in such a large amount of money that jeremy has to start dumping assets in order to write off taxes

And no, incredibly dumb move giving away real estate.

I can't believe the negative bullshit people are saying about this in an attempt to discredit him. This dude did what most people wouldn't. Stop being intimidated by his generosity and be inspired by it. I don't care why he did it. I care that these critters are getting a second chance. Listen to Broken Hope and stfu \m/

The only reason he donated his entire farm is because he wanted to dedicate more time watching the classic 90s Nickelodeon show Doug! He's planning on openeing a honker burger

A bit tired of these non-profits taking advantage of people. They have no problem paying their staff a salary or hourly wage, and I'm sure the higher-ups also get benefits/health ins. But they can't find a way to finance a property to work from.

anonymous
4/9/2015 8:17:45 PM
Wth is wrong with you people? There is so much crap going on in this hellish world & so many shitty people that when someone does something good there's gotta be some "other reason" to it..?? Grow the F up! Need more good, kind people.

anonymous
4/9/2015 9:18:42 PM
This dude did a good deed. I think that is undisputed. But these organizations are a false. You need more space or larger facilities, cut your salaries. If the cause means that much to you, make do with what you have or figure out another way. Stop taking advantage of people or learn to say "thanks, but it's too big of a donation."

anonymous
4/10/2015 5:21:27 AM
good for him even though i feel like i have to say something negtaive here...

anonymous
4/10/2015 8:13:52 AM

anonymous
4/10/2015 12:26:42 PM
You know what would have actually helped? Mentioning the name of the charity and giving a link to them, maybe give other people a chance to help as well, rather than wasting the space to give himself a masturbatory high five. Now that they have a large property that has taxes and overhead to take care of, whatever charity this is might need the help

anonymous
4/10/2015 3:17:43 PM

How the f*kc did he afford this farm in the first place? There is not much money in playing death metal.

anonymous
4/10/2015 8:22:31 PM
He didn't buy this farm. His wife bought it from her family money. They had a major electrical fire in January at the farm and it doesn't look anything like the picture that he's posted here. He got his insurance money from the fire and his wife made him get rid of it. He's full of shit

anonymous
4/11/2015 4:38:54 AM
to anonymous dickheads who are complaining about this- get out of computer, get a job, earn money, help others and do something as good and big as this guy- come back with proof and then complain. no life fck face douchecanoes.

anonymous
4/11/2015 9:26:26 AM
Giving to your community and having a tax write-off are bad things? A charitable gift write-off is about 50% of the gift.
Making use of tax law enables the donor to give more freely. That's the whole point.
He's getting press? Why should we not know about good acts like this one?
Your hate is silly. Get off the computer. Go do something POSITIVE and worthy of CELEBRATING.

To the negative asshats. The rescue is not 501c3 so not much of a tax benefit
The rescue is volunteer run, no salaries no benefits. Recycled.Pits founder has financed the rescue with her own $. Her savings, 401k, pension, IRA - all gone.this rescue survives because people like Jeremy and Kym actually give a damn.and I hear the band helped.Singer adopted one and saved another.

He didn't buy the farm. His wife bought the farm with her family money. He never had the furnace repaired and had a huge fire. It needs MAJOR repairs for someone to live there. Jeremy spun it into a story like he's some charitable guy for donating his burned down farm that he neglected. The only ass hat is Jeremy Wagner and anyone believing the face value of the story.

All Wagner does on his FB page is brag about giving his farm to animal welfare. He's patted himself on the back quite a few times there. He should change his name to "Jeremy Bragner."

I would like to know the name of the "rescue" that's on the receiving end of this. Too many "no kill" entities start out with good intentions and then degenerate into hoarding situations. Is the rescue a 5013c? Who will be overseeing the property- volunteers or paid employees. What about veterinary care for the influx of animals. These are questions that people need to be asking.
