Deftones set to begin recording new album

Monday, January 26, 2015 8:33 AM PT

During an interview with MusicStoreLive.com this past weekend at NAMM in California, Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter revealed that the band expect to enter the studio next month to begin tracking their next album. Here's what Carpenter had to say:

"We're actually writing a new record and we're gonna… We're supposed to be going in to record it next month, but we're taking it as it goes. I mean, we're not all the way ready now, but we've still got time and we're working on it."

If you've been paying attention, the band spend a significant portion of 2014 writing for the effort. Carpenter's full interview can be found below.

Instrumentally phenomenal band. Vocally, enh. Djent kids are stoked for his new 69 inch scale super baritone four pickup drop Z signature though.

Dumb. It's like the limbo every album. Is that all they can come up with?

Band has a solid discography, one of the very few bands to come out of the early/mid-90s "nu metal" era that didn't flop and release bullshit. Excited for another release, still waiting for them to put Eros on the shelves.

Agreed. Still waiting on Eros, but always stoked for new tunes. This band can do no wrong.
