Curious to know exactly how much money Nate needs to cover his "mounting medical bills" and mortgage payments? The GoFundMe doesn't give any specifics, of course, such as whether he has insurance, or they are/aren't paying for treatment. And I know they don't need $100,000 for their mortgage payment. Just seems strange when all these GFM accounts ask for money and never give any real details. I would think you'd have a benefit show OR a GFM, but both is like way overkill.

Gotta agree with the comment about how much money this guy needs. Although, sick line up

Exposure to Nora is probably what gave him cancer in the first place.

Insurance doesn't cover a lot of cancer treatments or at least all the way. One time can easily be 100,000.

The GFM account for Nate doesn't actually say what he needs. Of course people can give, do it. But does he need $100k or does he need $500k? I'm guessing the hospital has no problem outlining the number of treatments x fees = total. And is his insurance covering any of it? And what do they need for mortgage? These are fair questions. If Nate is given $194,000 and only needs $87,384 - where's the rest going?

For The Love Of...

Why? They are terrible.

With over $100,000 raised for Nate - which is awesome - make the show proceeds show go to cancer research or spread around to difference charities. Seems kinda selfish to take all the money and a lot of it is going to pay for their house. Lots of people with cancer don't even have a house to worry about.

If you have all those questions don't donate. They stated what they are using it for and if they get extra maybe they'll pay it forward and if they don't oh well.

1/20/2015 5:19:24 AM
Its great to see the support they are receiving as it is well deseverved. Write your next dissertation on the "recovering addicts" on go fund me who need money because they spent all of theirs on dope.

i am quite positive,if the shoe was on the other foot you wouldnt be questioning shit,if you would like to help the man,by all means,do so... but if you don't, keep your fingers from typing negative garbage.

no offense dude, but nate is ex-straight edge, as you people would call "a sell out." so don't need your preaching about people who do drugs as being any less honourable than those who drink/get drunk. their all in the same boat by hardcore's standards.

someone asking for $100,000 for medical bills and mortgage payments is no more deserving than a gay couple who's home was destroyed in a fire. maybe nate/wife shouldn't have spent so much on their tattoos.

I don't take any offense for someone asking what the money is for. Seems logical to me. Nathan is a cool, down to earth guy. His wife is good people. The money is going to the medical costs and help the mortgage payments so his wife can spend her time emotionally supporting Nathan, and not have to be out working a 9-to-5'er. Makes sense to those who know them. Donate if you want. Don't if you don't. No big deal to anyone involved.

People are ignorant. No facts to back up shit. My step dad had cancer for 8-10 months. Went through chemo for 3 months, which was abosolute hell for him. He owes 800,000 dollars now. So 100,000 isnt hardly shit. I hope they make well over what theyre asking.

anonymous
1/20/2015 8:23:14 AM
What's more offensive than the "gay" comments and the stupid van flip shit on this site, is when people post about "real world" stuff and have no fcking clue what they're talking about. It's really embarrassing. Half of you have absolutely no clue what shit really costs.
These people are in jeopardy of losing their house, he can't work, it said she had recently been laid off, insurance OFTEN doesn't cover everything and so on.

anonymous
1/20/2015 9:25:58 AM
maybe nate/wife shouldn't have spent so much on their tattoos.

Yeah, because they spent hundreds of thousands on tattoos, especially when they were both out of work and not bringing in money. Did your parents have any kids who weren't born brain-dead?

The supporters of Nate really need to sit down, drink a can of beer and relax. You're the type who will give grief to an IndieGoGo band wanting crowdsourcing for their next album by complaining about each line item of the budget breakdown and telling them to get a job and figure it out - BUT - if it's someone you know or support, then oh no, don't ask where the $100,000 is going exactly, don't ask why they have no savings but have money for tattoos and touring and shit like that.

hey Snoopy2, your joke isn't funny, you whacked ass retard... you used to post as deez_nutz am I correct? way to jock someone elses username you inconsiderate retard

1/22/2015 12:16:39 PM
Did this jerk a couple comments up really just compare crowdfunding an album to raising money for a guy's cancer treatment?? If you don't want to donate, then shut the fck up and move on.

anonymous
1/23/2015 3:10:48 AM
Cancer > Sick Of It All

anonymous
1/23/2015 9:32:10 PM
I think the jerk above's comparison was that if a person asks why there is no specifics for why Nate needs so much money and Nate supporters start jumping all over him about it, then why are these same people complaining about specifics when a band crowdsources an album (bitching about recording costs or telling them to get a job).

anonymous
1/23/2015 9:36:34 PM
Would it be so hard to say "We need 3 months of mortgage payments ($6,082) so I can be at home with Nate" and "We need $100,000 to cover the first round of treatment." It's totally reasonable.

But when I read that they paid their home off, there's no reason. No offence, but go get a job. You have no savings and we're supposed to pay for your home and medical expenses?

Just going to throw this in here, since some people don't have a sense of the finances here, and I do have some insight as to what's going on. Since you asked, I can give you a general status report - first of, GFM gets a flat 8% of the money, and we're still waiting on word for how this gets taxed. Second, his house is now in the process of being handled, with the amazing help of a lawyer/friend who generously donated his time to set things straight.

Nate is in an aggressive treatment program and is getting chemo for 5 days at a time every 3 weeks for the next 5-6 months. Thus far, after one round, I know for a fact that the bills for testing and chemo have come out to upwards of 20k. The math is simple - he's not going to be coming out of this ahead of the game financially. This whole thing was started ,followed through with and donated to by friends and well-wishers to help him get through this. No one will profit from it, far from it.

anonymous
1/23/2015 10:20:30 PM
The hope is to insure that for the 6 months of treatment he can focus on simply hanging tough and beating this without having to worry about whether he'll have a home to come back to, to get him back and forth to treatment, and to get him out the other end of this in as small of a financial hole as possible.

anonymous
1/23/2015 10:21:08 PM
Beyond that, this show is all about friends getting together to celebrate and lend strength to someone who has been here for a lot of us through thick and thin. Some of these questions are just trolling - some just don't see how steep the finances are, and I hope with all sincerity that no one reading this ever has to come face to face with this in their own personal lives.

anonymous

Every one of us volunteered to stand up for Nate in this situation, and none of us is forcing anyone to do anything. You don't have to be involved. You don't have to do anything, in fact, except hopefully show some respect for the simple truth that we all are stepping up in one way or another as we can for someone we care about, to help take some of the burden off of him when he needs it most. -sincerely, a friend and neighbor.

sorry for the multiple part message. TLNR

As a close friend to Nate, I just want to clarify the "paid their home off" comment from above. They did not use the money that was donated to pay off their home. They used a small portion of the money to pay off the past due mortgage payments in order to get the house out of foreclosure.
