Architects drop off Protest The Hero tour

Thursday, November 28, 2013 5:25 PM PT

Architects have dropped off the remainder of their North American tour with Protest The Hero. Taking their place on the bill is The Contortionist. Architects have issued the following statement:

"There's no easy way to say this but we have decided to pull out of the remaining Protest the Hero shows in the US. In the interests of honesty, avoiding ambiguity and the standard 'personal reasons' line, we want to explain our reasons clearly.

"A big factor in this was beginning this tour immediately after an extremely intense period recording our new album, which had already left us burnt out and mentally / physically exhausted. Simply said - we have nothing left in us after the extremely long year we have had thus far. We have hit a brick wall and desperately need a break to be home, get healthy and clear our minds for the remainder of the year.

"We haven't taken this decision lightly. We make it carrying a great deal of guilt for letting down the bands we're on tour with and the fans that have bought tickets, and to them we are sorry. This is the first time in 8 years of touring that we've ever had to do anything like this and it makes us feel extremely uncomfortable. This is also a not a financially motivated decision, exiting this tour means we lose out on a good amount of money, but somethings are more important. Protest is of course going on with the tour and they will announce our replacement soon.

"Again - we are deeply sorry to everyone we have let down. We will be back next year, revitalised and with a brand new album."

Grow a set of balls. So tired of reading almost bi-weekly occurrences of these weak-ass bands dropping from tours all with the same 'we ran out of money / we're exhausted / etc' excuses.

Don't take the tours if you don't feel 100%. Don't take the tours if you have $100 in the band account and are spending each day crossing fingers that the twist-ties will hold the engine block in place.

So many bands would love to be touring in the position that these guys are in. To blatantly drop off a tour because your are "tired" or whatever is fcking lame bullshit.

Really wanted to see these guys in ATL. They are living the flipping dream touring in another country and they just decide to drop off? Respect lost.

Guessing the tour's doing shit numbers and they figure it's not worth their time.

Bands used to tour 300 days out of the year and still find time to release a new record every year. If touring is "too hard" stay back in your own country.

They sucked the other night. The Contortionist is way better.

#weaksauce totally lame excuse, they should have stuck with being ambiguous, they wouldn't look so much like the pussies they apparently are. fire your manager for letting you go out on tour in the first place.

How do you get physically exhausted from recording an album?
