Southern Lord signs Centuries

Wednesday, March 06, 2013 10:57 AM PT

Official press release:

Southern Lord Recordings welcomes young Florida hardcore act Centuries to the label's ever-morphing extreme roster.

Busting out with an emotive punk-influenced style of hardcore with elements of explosive metalcore and morose d-beat persuasions, Centuries should appeal to fans of comparable Southern Lord acts like Baptists, Heartless and Nails, but their overall sound more akin to traditional modern hardcore acts than most any other on the label. Amidst releasing several demo and indie recordings, the band has toured stateside alongside Old Wounds, Pray For Teeth, Homestretch and more, and toured Europe in late 2012 with Poland's Drip Of Lies. Centuries has shared the stage with Gaza, Capitalist Casualties, Weekend Nachos, Skin Like Iron, Fell To Low, Code Orange Kids, Call Of The Void, Heartless, Dead In the Dirt, Full Of Hell, Ceremony, Trash Talk and Bane, has performed at The Fest as well as the Charming Man Records Fest in Germany three times and more, while two of the band's members also hold rank in local act Dove Swallower.

Centuries will travel from West Palm Beach out to take part in this year's SXSW melee, after which they'll tour out to Greensboro, North Carolina to record their as-yet-untitled Southern Lord debut with Kris Hilbert at Legitimate Business.

Centuries live:

3/11 Gainesville, FL @ Mars Pub
3/12 Austin, TX @ The Annex at 1808
3/13 TBA - Austin, TX @ SXSW

3/6/2013 12:26:02 PM
jesus christ, so much name dropping

3/6/2013 1:45:46 PM
Label with tarnished reputation and no identity signs band no one has heard of, who've accomplished nothing. Got it.

3/6/2013 2:21:06 PM
If Christian McMaster was dead, he'd be rolling in his grave.

3/6/2013 2:28:13 PM

3/6/2013 6:52:23 PM
A laundry list of bands that suck to accompany one you've never heard of with a generic name. Won't be listening, won't be caring.

3/6/2013 8:18:36 PM
busting out with

3/6/2013 10:22:27 PM
This is cool.

3/7/2013 6:32:31 AM
when the fck are bands going to stop using vaguely abstract plural nouns for their names? Jesus tapdancing Christ.

3/7/2013 6:33:46 AM
"Busting out with an emotive punk-influenced style of hardcore with elements of explosive metalcore and morose d-beat persuasions"

how many idiotic micro-genres can we smash into one sentence?

3/7/2013 8:14:46 AM
They're keeping it real by not changing the 'u' to a 'v'. The guy who made the plural name comment - completely agree with you. I remember when Gallows appeared on the scene: they were already 3 years too late hopping on the plural bandwagon

3/7/2013 9:19:11 AM
this band doesn't sound anything like how they're described. more like second rate melodic hardcore. southern lord needs to get with the program

3/7/2013 9:46:46 PM
You twat..Gallows isn't a plural.

5/22/2013 12:33:43 PM
So many haters. This band is awesome. Sorry they don't adhere to your hipster bullshit you want signed. Here is an idea, all of you start a band and get to this level........oh yeah that's right. You're a bunch of talentless Internet nerds. Continue jerking off into your tube sock and shut the hell up
