Whitechapel album release date set, song debuted

Tuesday, May 01, 2012 7:59 AM PT

Official press release:

Having spent several years lauded as one of the frontrunners in their genre, in 2012 Whitechapel stand as a defining force in contemporary heavy music. Building dramatically on the trademarked bludgeon of their first three releases, with Whitechapel the Tennessean sextet have inarguably delivered their most intense, dynamic, and downright hostile record to date. Drenched in atmospheric darkness, the record is also rife with gripping melodies that drag the listener in to the tumult, willing or otherwise, and across its ten tracks it is infused with an emotional depth that pointedly separates the band from the plethora of two-dimensional mosh-starters that have sprung up in their wake.

Whitechapel, the band's self-titled fourth album, is slated for a June 19th release date via Metal Blade Records. Today Whitechapel have unveiled the album artwork, tracklisting and released the first single from the album.

Whitechapel track listing:

01. Make it Bleed
02. Hate Creation
03. (Cult)uralist
04. I, Dementia
05. Section 8
06. Faces
07. Dead Silence
08. The Night Remains
09. Devoid
10. Possibilities of an Impossible Existence

The album was engineered and mixed by Mark Lewis (Black Dahlia Murder, DevilDriver), who also handled production duties alongside the band. The album artwork was created by Aaron Marsh of Forefathers Group with art direction provided by Whitechapel.

The first single from Whitechapel entitled "Hate Creation" is available for streaming below:

This depresses me and i almost want to denounce my faith in whitechapel. I hate how some bands lose their original flavor, this is one chip im leaving in the sofaa.

Song sounds like Slipknot. Also (Cult)uralist? Uralist?

5/1/2012 10:49:34 AM
i was down with some section 8. if given to me i will not delete it immediately. build-up talking to screaming? check. extra strings on guitar? check. tattooed dudes? check. angry at people for no reason? check. could be done with 3 guys instead of six? bingo. this is Korn without hot chicks following them

Metal is not all about how heavy or brutal you? can sound or get, it is still music after all. I respect them for taking a slight direction change in their sound and those of you who just want nothing but breakdowns and blast beats in a song how about you just go beat your head against a wall. I hear that's the new hardcore thing to do...

Haven't heard the song yet but I'm looking forward to it, but by theses comments it sounds like it's gonna be terrible. New Era of Corruption wasnt that great, This is Exile was.

P1: I believe every song will be very different from each other off their new album. I also believe this is the only song played in Drop B? Supposedly most of the rest are used in drop G. I think this song was made to show their progression and dynamic work with 3 guitarists. The drums are fcking insane. I love the route they've taken, more death metal less core and less breakdowns the better. So much melody and progression, not to mention meshuggah/tool inspired bridge.

P2: The only reason it sounds so much like slipknot is the guitar tone they used and the whisper to scream vocal technique which is pushing what he usually does.

I'm sure they'll be able to pull off the drums live, their drummer is a hoss. I still have a chub from TSD and I'm not super into this but I still respect the band.

Cant wait for the new album. BTW Section 8 is also a military term for an insane soldier, not just a term for a ghetto.

Never was much of a fan, but the new song sounds legit

5/1/2012 4:59:25 PM
I also LOL'd at "Section 8", are they having to get subsidized rent cause they aren't making enough money? Cory Brandan would be proud

anonymous

I dig this. Different direction but still heavy.

anonymous
5/1/2012 7:36:13 PM
Whitechapel themselves aren't even stoked

anonymous

I'm stoked for the new Album. This band deserves everything they get. Hardworking dudes that put their lives into their music. If people cant at least agree with that, then they shouldn't be posting. ALSO, who cares what they name a song? People name songs after raping chicks, does that mean they are actual rapists? No.

Did not expect deathcore bands to start jocking numetal. This shit is magically more derivative than their other stuff.

anonymous

Spoken word Slipknot fans are stoked.

Otherwise, this is great.

anonymous
5/2/2012 7:58:15 AM
Chinstrap beards, backwards baseball caps, North Face body warmers and turntables are stoked.

5/2/2012 10:55:03 AM
cool scene dudes who only dance for the one song they love and leave will be stoked

anonymous
5/2/2012 12:27:24 PM
I tought they were gonna do some melodic hardcore or dubstep/core thing so people would buy their CD

looks like ripping off The Ghost Inside and Attack Attack has become cool

Christ, a lot of people that post comments on this sight are arrogant douche-bags. :\ I liked Whitechapel's Somatic Defilement album, their This is Exile album, and I like A New Ear of Corruption. This song is pretty sweet. Sure the talking parts are a bit iffy in my opinion, but I still like it and I'm looking forward to this album. :)

I believe they are referring to section 8 as a discharge from the armed forces for being deemed mentally unfit as opposed to section 8 housing. Either way, shit band

5/3/2012 7:42:40 PM
My goodness, this is just fcking terrible

5/4/2012 11:35:13 AM
(i) hate (this) creation

anonymous
5/4/2012 11:48:11 AM
All they really need to do is add at least two more guitar players then they could sound like an orchestra of bland.

anonymous
5/4/2012 1:00:55 PM
Hahahahahaha terrible!

Its funny how cowardly people really are these days, and how safe they think they really are on the internet talking shit about bands and people with no fear of repurcussions, case in point IP addresses can be traced......
