Wear Your Wounds (Converge), Revelator split EP

Thursday, April 19, 2012 5:42 AM PT

Wear Your Wounds, a solo project of Converge frontman Jacob Bannon, has announced plans to release a split 7" EP with Revelator. Revelator is comprised of Ben Chisholm, a member of Chelsea Wolfe's band and the split will be available via Deathwish Direct, though a release date has yet to be disclosed.

Each party will contribue one song to the release. Wear Your Wounds provides the song "Adrift In You," a track that parallels "the stark sounds of Swans, Killing Joke, Joy Division, and other like minded artists." Meanwhile, Revelator's contribution is a song called "Net of Gems," which Deathwish describes as "a melancholic and haunting song driven by a wash of electronics, throbbing percussion, spiraling piano and subtle guitar work."

These days cowards outnumber the heroes, and the begging souls outweigh the calloused hands of the hardest of workers. Both in life and in art, the lack of passion is sickening and the lust for complacency is poisonous. This album is the artistic antithesis of that sinking world, a thorn in the side of their beast. It's for those who move mountains, one day at a time. It's for those who truly understand sacrifice...In our world of enemies, we will walk alone...

Bannon is a fcking genius, both musically and artistically in a sea of generic, stupid bullshit. I think he has the right to be a little pretentious, though I suspect he is just esoteric and most people misunderstand him. Sure it will be great, most things on Deathwish are and I haven't heard Bannon release anything bad, ever.

so why should this be pretentious and why does it have to be "fun" just because it is a solo project?
