The Word Alive drummer, keyboardist quit band

Friday, February 3, 2012 6:05 AM PT

Arizona metalcore band The Word Alive has confirmed the departure of both drummer Justin Salinas and keyboardist Dusty Riach, with frontman Tyler "Telle" Smith posting the following explanation online:

"I think it's quite the compliment when people say our drums were programmed or even triggered. Justin is one of my best friends, and extremely close with us, but yes, he decided to call it a day with touring. We aren't missing a beat though, we have a great drummer who is going to take what we had planned and truly help make the drums take another leap forward. We're not delaying our record, not canceling any shows and are moving forward as always. Every band goes through member changes, but the reality is Tony Zack and myself have written 90% of everything with most of the instruments post-Empire. Dusty left the band weeks ago so that is true, for much different reasons but all of those elements will be there. The new album has a ton of electronic components that we're trying and Tony and Zack did a great job at taking it up a notch in my opinion.

"We're not in trouble, just wait for new music you shall see :)"

I think what he's trying to say is The Word Alive is going to do their best to be like We Butter The Bread With Butter, except shittier.

silly rabbit, skrillix is for kids

why bands don't want to play real instruments and just record the sounds they make is beyond me. autotune, triggers, hit replacement, etc. all that shit can pick the corn out of my rear.

I think when he meant he takes people thinking the drums being programmed/triggered as a compliment it was because their drummer actually was playing things that people thought were too hard to play by a live drummer. I don't understand why people don't just take all the effort they put into bashing bands, into supporting the bands they like instead. The Word Alive is a good band, keep rockin n rollin boys.

hi...I'm chris from Danger Silent...a friend of Telle's. you misunderstood pretty much everything he said. i agree with the dude calling you all trolls. we don't play fake music because we use some synths once in a while, or replace some shit snare hits...we still play it all for real, and the word alive is probably the best post hardcore band around right now. good day ;)

wow the word alive threw dusty and justin under the bus after the leave with the talk about tony and zack will replace him easily with their own programming talents, I think dusty dipped out before they were about to let him go, it was inventible, he was the odd man out, drummers can easily just trigger samples,

its a shame bands go through a competition on guitar players trying to take over the electronics area, while they already have a synth player to do that, maybe lack of contribution played a part in dusty leaving since telle said zack and tony write 90% of everything soo.. and the drummer wasn't stimulated by the band enough to stay in the band, that says alot about the kind of music their playing.

I think this band is going downhill fast, how much post hardcore 6th generation crap can you pump out, the bands from the yesteryear still do a better job of what these hacks try to emulate. the mabbit association is the only reason why these guys are on the map, and the people they stepped over to get to where they are now. truth. haters gunna hate xxx.
