Throwdown records two cover songs

Mon, August 7, 2006 11:19 AM PT7,620 views

Throwdown recently recorded two cover songs with producer Mudrock (Godsmack, Avenged Sevenfold), one of which will appear on the upcoming Trustkill Records compilation release, due out later this year. On working with Mudrock, Throwdown guitarist Matt Mentley states, "I've known Mudrock for awhile, we met through a mutual friend, and I have always wanted to work with him. The whole experience was amazing, because he had such great ideas, and was able to make the songs sound like Throwdown even though they were covers." The first of the two songs is a cover of the Misfits song "London Dungon," and the second is a cover of Crowbar's "Planets Collide." Commenting on the song choices, Mentley says, "The whole band is a huge fan of Crowbar, and this song especially is a slower with a melody, different from what we normally do, which is what we were aiming for. The Misfits cover was just for fun, an obvious choice and again a band favorite."

SmolderingFlesh 8/7/2006 12:52:57 PM

They should stop worrying about covering other peoples songs and work on making good original songs because they blow ass as it is

Hunt_fish_with_dynamite 8/7/2006 1:03:34 PM

why is this news?

foreveryoung 8/7/2006 1:17:06 PM

fck this band... might as well be a fcking nu metal band... they have no respect for hardcore, or the fans that put them to where they are today

SmellyPirateHooker 8/7/2006 1:44:26 PM

I just dont understand how all you gays still say the term "nu-metal." I have heard this since 1996 and that was 10 years ago. Think of a new phrase homo.

chuck 8/7/2006 1:45:39 PM

Vendetta was a pretty decent release. There was nothing *NU* about it. Haymaker was a pile of shit, agreed. But Vendetta was a pretty damn good step in the right direction.

BAMRightINThePisser 8/7/2006 2:31:52 PM

Hmmm.....this should definetly be gay. I'll be sure to ignore that.

ARCHITECTkills 8/7/2006 2:32:37 PM

they better not fck up the Crowbar song..eh who am i kidding its fcked.

kenwregget 8/7/2006 2:42:07 PM

Terrible news. At least it will help Crowbar sell more records. Actually maybe not.

shadoe 8/7/2006 2:59:07 PM

throwdown sux penis

ryaninstereo 8/7/2006 3:27:47 PM

this is a shameless attempt by a shitty band to gain some cred. which will never happen regardless of what they do. talentless bunch of gays.

gayXedge 8/7/2006 4:25:53 PM

my friend smoked with them. so much for being strait edge.

xburningfightx 8/7/2006 5:06:10 PM

The only thing I ever gave a shit about was Haymaker, and even it was pretty awful. One or two decent songs, tops. Vendetta was audible aids and everything with Keith on vocals was wretched as well.

HacksawToTheGoat 8/7/2006 5:43:04 PM

Im just waiting for one of you tools to diss The Misfits so I can find your Mother, and pee in her mouth.

bmxdorker 8/7/2006 6:16:57 PM

It's funny when a producer knows how to make your band sound like your own band than your own band does. Even if it does mean in ways of doing a cover. Shit band.

Throwdown seriously needs to break up. Preferably before they put this out.
