Unearth to record new album this spring

from Alternative Press (website): Earlier today, AP talked with Unearth guitarist Ken Susi about the recording of his band's new album and left the conversation with this exclusive piece of information: The Boston-based metal monsters will be headlining the second stage of this year's Ozzfest. "We're playing something like third-to-last on the bill or something; yeah, we're basically headlining the second stage," reveals Susi. Ozzfest organizers have not announced any other bands confirmed for the 2006 run, but Unearth aren't unfamiliar with the tour, having played its second stage in 2004. While the tour is typically geared towards more mainstream rock and metal acts on the mainstage, recent years have seen a who's-who of underground metal grace the second stage -- Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Atreyu, Darkest Hour, Bleeding Through and Every Time I Die are just a handful of bands to play the tour in recent years. Susi informed AP that the tour will again run from the beginning of July through the end of August as in years past, but offered no insight to any other bands confirmed for the trek. Susi did inform us, however, that his band will be recording their third proper full-length from March to May in Seattle with producer Terry Date (Deftones, Dredg). The album will be released by Metal Blade this July -- "just in time for Ozzfest," Susi wisely notes. Susi also told AP that before the album's release and their Ozzfest stint, the band will be heading overseas to Europe for a string of shows, possibly to be followed by a Japanese tour as well. All dates are pending. Lastly, Susi also told AP that in the brief downtime following their new, currently untitled album's completion, he will begin working in earnest on the debut LP for Burn Your Wishes, his rock side project which he fronts alongside Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz on guitar, Seemless' Derek Kerswill on drums and ex-Poison The Wall bassist Iano Dovi. "It's just something I do for fun," Susi says. "It's kinda cheesy, but I love it."

Terry Date . . . wow, I wonder what level of popularity this band will get to before another sub genre of music comes out and blows this genre out of the water.

I just wanted to post somewhere that those Killwhitneydead videos are horrid. Thank you.

sharkfight 2/16/2006 10:34:58 AM

i guarantee at least half of the people making negative remarks about this band (and many others) were fingering their buttholes to this when The Undying Storm came out. quit hating just to sound cool on the internet.

motherfckzombies 2/16/2006 11:18:03 AM

hahaha Iano is in a new band. Good for him. He was a nice dude.

hotaction 2/16/2006 11:18:45 AM

i think theres maybe one good song on this coming storm (or whatever gay title it was). boring.

youisretarded 2/16/2006 11:30:27 AM

this band really defined late 90s swedish influenced metalcore. Stings was amazing and is to this day...but anyone paying attention cannot look past the fact that thier last full length was the most uninspired disappointment ever.

watchyoudie 2/16/2006 11:54:47 AM

unearth is awesome...looking forward to it

hate007 2/16/2006 12:21:22 PM

Was it just me or did they just come and go on that DVD and nobody cared....

ToiletFleet 2/16/2006 12:22:00 PM

The fact that this band is allowed to live demonstrates that there is no God. See also: the gaygy Demon Hunter/ZAO posting.

Strongarm 2/16/2006 1:04:25 PM

Yea, Oncoming Storm was no Stings of Concience, but to say it was completely uninspired is pretty overboard.

__irakehell 2/16/2006 2:33:51 PM

*lambgoat unoriginal response about how much I hate bands that get popular and make money*

moshandroll 2/16/2006 2:57:14 PM

Yeah, i agree. Hopefully this will be more like Stings of Conscience

Oh great more generic, breakdown metalcore

Destro26 2/18/2006 1:10:52 PM

All the shit-talkers shouldn't even be speeling. I don't see your "much more amazing" bands playing OzzFest or recording a third record. Grow the fck up and stay away from the topics you don't care about.
