Thoughts Of Ionesco anthology in the works

Official press release: Seventh Rule Recordings will release the anthology of Detroit's Thoughts Of Ionesco this Spring. Taking tracks from each of their four albums, plus singles and unreleased material, "The Scar is Our Watermark" is the definitive TOI release, making the music available once again. In addition, a 55 minute DVD documentary will be included in this package with band footage, interviews and tales of the neurotic debauchery told by the original band members themselves. Some have compared the band to My War-era Black Flag, while others named them "the Joy Division of heavy music." Regardless of definition, TOI created some of the darkest and most beautifully brutal material ever committed to tape. Their music was a unique combination of low-end violence, insanity, free-jazz, and art damage. In 1997 Alternative Press called the band "the ultimate realization of pain through sound." Detroit's Metro Times wrote in 1998 that "after seeing these guys, you realize that every other band in their genre is faking it... if they even have a genre that is." TOI had a volatile and memorable relationship with their fans. A writer for Punk Planet most recently mentioned in an article "I was fortunate enough to see TOI twice during their tumultuous existence and they were amazing and mind-bending both times." Members of TOI have admitted that a reunion is not in the band's near future as they have since moved on to play in The Holy Fire (Militia Group) and Alkaline Trio (Vagrant) But fans should be assured that this essential CD/DVD release will bring them the unforgettable TOI experience once again. "The Scar is Our Watermark" CD/DVD is scheduled for release in May 2006. "Figure" a song off the anthology, is currently available for listening at www.seventhrule.com and at the relevant Myspace pages.
