WATCH: Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard perform w/ Kumite, her hardcore band, live for the first time

Back in November, we covered the announcement of Kumite, the hardcore side project led by Grammy-winning Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard. Tonight, Kumite made their live debut at Basement East in Nashville, TN. Sharing the bill were Snooper, Inner Peace, and Second Spirit.
Check out the following footage captured by @bmenchthurlow
As part of the set, Kumite also covered "AM/PM" by American Nightmare, which you can watch below.

Post CommentThat was awful. Another person who just found out about hardcore trying to jump on the train for cool points. Kinda like lurkcity but at least this chick does have talent just not in this
Flat out terrible Good on her for trying but obviously this is NOT good at all.
The chick from Snooper looks alright but nothing to write home about. You need to get you some bitches. This is probably the funniest event in the history of Nashville
I'm just blown away it isn't Gel poison idea hand drawn flyer core
She can sing. The screaming may need a little more work but good for her trying some ringing out of her comfort zone.
Delete the world seriously time for the asteroid to hit time for a reboot ftw

every mid to large sized city in USA has at least 750 bands that are snooper, with or without the mullet guy.
First show at a packed club with a f*cking light show= hardcore 2025. f*ck these grifters, go back to submitting your albums for Grammy consideration. So punk
She better be careful. It's quite possible that Wes's lawyers are drafting a cease and desist and preparing a multi million dollar copy right infringement lawsuit. Lots of emotional pain and suffering. 3x multiplier of the damages.
That was the worst thing I've heard all month. So far.
a little too late to start this virtue signalcore band, trump will be in office in a week
I'm sure Kumite is going to grind it out, play local shows, support the local scene and mosh...oh wait nah this will die out in a year after they get some unearned festival spots. REAL HARDCORE SURE
Taco Bell Core to Grifter Core. Hardcore needs to die.
I'd rather watch my grandma get out of the bath tub than watch this
I don't care about Wes at all I just comment about him every time I can
Damn baby, what'd you do to your hair? it's called Autumn Sunrise, do you like?
but, does she pee on her fans, in concert.-U.T.I. CREW
This trend of covering American Nightmare has to stop.
Even Silverstein covered American Nightmare and it's gay
This is the band Valley Girl. We were floored by this riveting performance. Bravo Britt!
