Ewo Pohjola, manager of Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, has been charged with assault.
According to a report by Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE), Ewo Pohjola strangled a woman in October of 2023 at a Music x Media event in Tampere.
The woman claims that she was approached by Pohjola and a second unidentified man at a bar during the event, where she spoke with the second man for a period of time. She claims that Pohjola left the bar while she spoke with the second man, and upon his return he put his hands around her neck in "a tight stranglehold." Allegedly, he said it "felt exciting" before he left.
A second woman has come forward with similar accusations, but has yet to press charges.
Nightwish will apparently not be making any comments on the situation until the case is closed.
