Coliseum announce 20th anniversary of debut self titled album, share remix/remastered single

Equal Vision Records and Louisville hardcore outfit Coliseum have announced the 20th Anniversary Edition of Coliseum, the band's self-titled debut album. Set for release on November 21, this fully remixed and remastered version revisits the 2004 Level-Plane Records classic with an updated mix by frontman Ryan Patterson. This rework aims to better capture the band's raw energy and spotlight original drummer Matt Jaha, who passed away in 2020.
The album, recorded live on ½" 8-track by Jason Loewenstein of Sebadoh, was originally produced with minimal overdubs in a DIY garage setting in downtown Louisville.

Patterson shared the following:
We wanted a raw and immediate hardcore punk record, and that's what we got. The drums were recorded with only four microphones, the amps were isolated in the upstairs bedrooms, the vocals were recorded in a bathroom.
Now that Coliseum is back in action after a nearly nine-year hiatus, it's even more poignant and important to give this special album a new 20th anniversary remix, remaster and reissue.

Post CommentThis band was really cool when they were active. Unfortunately never got to see them and it's a shame that there's no additional material to this reissue. "Remasters" usually aren't that much better.
This band was really cool when they were active. They were cool for the first few releases when they were playing hard fast hardcore punk bordering on d beat at times. Then they decided they were "art punk" or some shit. Went from touring with High on Fire and smoking them to playing to 20 f*cking nerds at a record store in a few years.
Only good thing about this painstakingly average snoozefest was when Chris Maggio played drums for them like a maniac
