Watch: Deftones perform full set from San Francisco show without guitarist Stephen Carpenter

Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter was notably absent once again from the band's recent live show on August 17th at the Golden Gate Park Polo Field in San Francisco, CA. He previously was also missing from the band's Lollapalooza set.

His continued absence has raised concerns among fans, especially since he also missed two shows earlier this month in Chicago, IL, due to what was described at the time as a "sudden illness."Deftones have yet to provide an explanation for Carpenter's absence at the San Francisco show, which headlined alongside System Of A Down and The Mars Volta and others.

Carpenter's struggle with anxiety, particularly related to touring, has been an ongoing issue, with the guitarist previously announcing in May 2022 that he would be sitting out international tours. Earlier this year Carpenter also spoke more in depth with Rock Feed's Brian Storm about his issues with anxiety.

This latest development has added to the uncertainty surrounding his future performances with the band. However, Carpenter was present in the most recent writing and recording sessions for the group's follow up to Ohms.

Crosses/Far guitarist Shaun Lopez has been handling live gigs for the band since Carpenter has scaled back his live appearances with the band.
