Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have been confirmed as the composers for Disney's upcoming Tron: Ares, marking the first time a Nine Inch Nails score will accompany a film. The news was revealed during the opening night of Disney's D23 fan festival on August 9th.

The third installment in the Tron franchise will star Jared Leto, Jeff Bridges, and others, with a plot twist that flips the series' traditional formula—this time, a program escapes into the real world. Tron: Ares is set to hit theaters on October 10th.

Reznor and Ross, known for their award-winning scoring work, appeared onstage at D23 to announce their involvement. Fans of Nine Inch Nails, who've been waiting since 2020 for new material, were thrilled to learn that the score will be credited to Nine Inch Nails, rather than just Reznor and Ross. This is significant, considering the band's inactivity since 2022.

Reznor previously cited cultural shifts and a hectic schedule as reasons for the band's quiet period.
