Gojira, the renowned French heavy metal legends, were recently invited to be among the performers at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in their home country.

Sharing the honor with iconic pop artists like Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, Gojira was set for a special collaborative performance with opera singer Marina Viotto at the Conciergerie, the Paris residence of French kings in medieval times.

During the ceremony, the band, consisting of vocalist Joe Duplantier, drummer Mario Duplantier, guitarist Christian Andreu, and bassist Jean-Michel Labadie, along with Viotto, performed a rendition of "Ah! Ca Ira," a song that was popular during the French Revolution.

The band said of the song:

It was a very bloody era of French history, so it was very metal.
