At a local show last night at The White Swan Live in Houston, Texas, featuring Devoured Trachea, Accosted, Yung Jitt, 79 Stick, Big Pete, Martyrdom, Entropy, and Two Timer, an event some may find unsettling took place.

According to social media posts, it appears that someone brought a pig's head and chucked it into the pit, leading to a mix of reactions from the crowd at the show and online.

It's unclear during whose set the pig's head was initially tossed, but the original poster commented later, "black metal bands are crazy, i watched some of these kids lickin on the pig head, guts were splattered on people, diseases were spread 😭😭."

UPDATED: See below for Martyrdom's statement on the pig's head.

Online discussions ensued, with some noting that similar occurrences have happened before.

Needless to say, those in the vegan community were none too happy about seeing the video.

UPDATE: Martyrdom has responded:

Hi everyone

we just want to start off by saying we are incredibly sorry to anyone we offended with our actions and gimmicks on stage.

We are a black metal band, and as part of it, we try to add a little bit of imagery and shock value to our set. Unfortunately our acts has gotten carried away and way out of hand, offending many and even harming some.

We want to apologize to any vegans, Muslims, or other minority groups we may have offended, and to anyone who was harmed by our act.

Most importantly we want to apologize to the White Swan, and Harry, the sound guy, specifically. thank you so much white swan for giving us the opportunity to play there.
