Kiss play final show in human form, will now live on as avatars

Digital Kiss

In an interesting turn of events, Kiss announced during their final show at Madison Square Garden that they will now perform as digital avatars. The band revealed the news during the encore, with the avatars performing a rendition of "God Gave Rock 'N' Roll to You II"

These digital versions of the band were created through a collaboration with Pophouse Entertainment Group and Industrial Light & Magic, the company founded by George Lucas.

To create the avatars of Kiss's digital band members, members of the band were scanned and recorded using motion capture technology.

Paul Stanley said:

What we've accomplished has been amazing, but it's not enough. The band deserves to live on because the band is bigger than we are. It's exciting for us to go the next step and see Kiss immortalized.

Gene Simmons commented:

We can be forever young and forever iconic by taking us to places we've never dreamed of before. The technology is going to make Paul jump higher than he's ever done before.
