Jay Weinberg "heartbroken and blindsided" by split with Slipknot

Jay Weinberg

Jay Weinberg, former drummer of Slipknot, has recently shared his response after parting ways with the band.

A few days prior, Slipknot expressed their gratitude for the drummer's contributions over the past decade but stated their intention to pursue creative evolution by splitting with Weinberg

In his response, Jay talked about his initial shock at the news and gave his thanks for the support he has received from the community after the news broke.

Weinberg shared:

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to pay a visit to my wide-eyed, 10-year-old self— falling head over heels in love with a new and exciting sound and culture — and tell him all about the last 10 years. Even on the hardest days, I'd like to think he'd be stoked about the adventure that was in store for him.

I was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call that I did on the morning of November 5th; the news of which, most of you learned shortly after. However, I've been overwhelmed by — and truly grateful for — the outpouring of love and support I've received from this incredible community I consider to be my creative and artistic home.

This is not the ending to the journey I'd dreamt of, and committed myself to seeing through — not by a long shot. But, despite the confusion and sadness, there is something that's provided an equal amount of comfort. For many of you reading this: 10 years ago, we weren't yet acquainted. And now, we are. For that, I'm thankful in ways I'll never be able to fully express.

I love playing the drums. I'll always love playing the drums. I'll always have a passion for music, art, and creative expression. Nothing will ever change that.

I don't know how, and I don't know when, but I look forward to creating loud, passionate, and heartfelt music that we enjoy together again. Until then, please know it's been the joy of a lifetime to spend the last 10 years with you, sharing in our love for this special corner of the music and art world.

This isn't the end, and I'm thrilled to discover what the future has in store for us.

Thank you.

Jay

I'm letting Jay go in Mexico because I just feel he doesn't represent this band well on a character level. It would go against my own code of ethics to keep him around. Not saying he's a bad drummer. I won't take that away from him. But the reality is – he has a lot to learn about paying dues, and about life in general. Granted, he is a kid, but I'm not sure that he'll ever be built for this particular lifestyle. I wish him the best of luck, but the SLIPKNOT machine rolls on! - Shawn "clown" Crahan

Doesn't this dude have a reputation for being an absolute boner to work with? Who else fired him? I remember Madball did too, right?

anonymous 114 days ago

His kind are so tiresome....rich and entitled. Man up and start another band else with all that money and connections, you know, like everyone else has to do.

anonymous 114 days ago

"Doesn't this dude have a reputation for being an absolute boner to work with? Who else fired him? I remember Madball did too, right?" Yes was also pulling all kinds of rockstar BS when he was in Against Me according to them

anonymous 114 days ago

So I'm not getting Springsteen tickets?

anonymous 114 days ago

Dude was a total shit bag in previous bands and was kicked to the curb. Entitled rich kid. f*ck him.

anonymous 114 days ago

So many bands in the Midwest want to put ex slipknot on flyers.

anonymous 114 days ago

Everyone mentioning Madball and Against Me seem to forget both of those bands are awful.

anonymous 114 days ago

^ so does Slipknot

BigDog 114 days ago

Yeah Slipknot hasn't been good in almost 20 years.

anonymous 114 days ago

NAILS

anonymous 114 days ago

anonymous 114 days ago

"Doesn't this dude have a reputation for being an absolute boner to work with?" Yeah, from a bunch of anonymous comments on this website.

anonymous 114 days ago

Madball didn't fire Jay he quit them because they were & still are a waste of time & money. Ditto for why MACKIE JAYSON FROM CRO-MAGS quit them. Madball says they fired Jay to save face.

anonymous 114 days ago

Another brilliant idea, Steinberg.

anonymous 114 days ago

What a little bitch.

anonymous 114 days ago

Rich kid learns want failure feels like

anonymous 114 days ago

anonymous 114 days ago

Jay on the phone with his girl after he was let go from band.." hey honey you still got the receipt for those earrings?"

anonymous 114 days ago

Someone needs to remind this cream puff that being kicked out of a band - however successful it might have been - doesn't require a press release or personal statement that reads like an obituary. Grow a pair.

anonymous 114 days ago

Jay seems to get the boot from every band he plays in.

anonymous 114 days ago

I'm harmless and you're just antagonistic as f*ck.

Todd Jones here. This reminds me of a time in a completely separate Universe from this one where I helmed a band named Mailed You Your Head, and we needed to give what might be considered our "drummer", QUANNTYXX, a one-way ticket to Later Town. After all of the normal threats, kidnappings, identity thefts, etc., boyo was NOT getting with the program. I could have reduced his mind to babyish simplicity on the spot, but I had a better idea for my new toy... With an icy snap of my fangahz that echoed through various dimensional boundaries, I made it so that any time Quanntyxx's brain pathways signaled the shift from N1 to N2 in his sleep cycle, he perceived a simultaneous deafening noise/thunderous inner-ear vibration that sent his lizard brain into a prehistoric frenzy. The speed with which he was institutionalized surprised even me, and I've seen quite a few fresh heads of broccoli go soggy in my time. Whelp, *leans back, stretches* HIDE. VISIONS. LATERED. He will never be one of us.

anonymous 114 days ago

Didn't he get kicked out of Against Me too?

anonymous 114 days ago

"Yeah, from a bunch of anonymous comments on this website." And the people who directly worked with him

anonymous 114 days ago

Didn't stand for the current thing unfortunately.

anonymous 114 days ago

Jay and his " management " probably was in - over their heads about asking clown for an increase on his new contract citing social media presence and traffic that he was bringing to the band. " But our client is doing 6942069 subs on his youtube - and 2millions views on utube, why not give im a bigger slice of da pie?1? "

anonymous 114 days ago

Todd Jones would be a better fit for Slipknot

anonymous 114 days ago

Can't wait for Corey's wife to weigh in on this. He shuts her up by paying for motionless in whites bus so she can dance around on stage as a "career"

anonymous 114 days ago

Pretty common knowledge that he and his dad are world class entitled dickheads. Pretty satisfying to watch this loser fail at every single gig

anonymous 113 days ago

"I bet Corey wanted him to get the new booster" Of course there's always one retard who's so obsessed with COVID that he has to shoehorn it into every conversation The pandemic is over bud, time to get on with your life

anonymous 113 days ago

^^^Time for another booster little buddy.

anonymous 113 days ago

^^^dont you have some fox news to go jack off to?

anonymous 113 days ago

Hes Heartbroken lol

anonymous 113 days ago

Sour gr*pes why? Jay seems like a true pro. Fired? He's grateful to be given the opportunity, no sour gr*pes.

anonymous 113 days ago

"^^^dont you have some fox news to go jack off to?" Weak comeback. Now go get another booster, I hear a new covid variant has been released. 🐑

anonymous 113 days ago

Clearly narcissistic

anonymous 113 days ago

Weak comeback. Now go get another booster, I hear a new covid variant has been released. 🐑 LOL @ you having a problem with something which reduces the chance of death from Covid. The only 🐑 is you jagoff.

anonymous 113 days ago

^^^ If after the past 3 years, you haven't figured out that your governments and media are controlled by big pharma then please continue to get boosters.

anonymous 112 days ago

B00st me harder daddy

anonymous 112 days ago

I like the comments on the last article absolutely dumpstering Corey and Kegboy for this decision, but Jay should've known never to make a press release. For some reason, this overloads the average anonymous commenters mind and fills them with primal rage.

anonymous 112 days ago

"Fartbroken and hind-divided"

anonymous 112 days ago

lol the government has you convinced they aren't the government. you dumb apes keep spouting Republican propaganda as if you were born yesterday. bro, they ain't gonna save you. they want your money and your daughters, that's it.

anonymous 79 days ago

Not gunna lie, i thought his drumming was nowhere near joeys, double kick was slop, timing was all over the place, and his dynamics were god awful. Only thing he was good at was that he had a decent stage presence, other than that i thought he was sub par for the band
