Former Desolated bassist Jake Marlowe missing after Hamas attack on music festival near Gaza border

With a war ongoing in Israel, musician Jake Marlowe known for his work as the former bassist from British hardcore band Desolated has been reported missing following an attack by Hamas militants near the Gaza border. The incident took place during a music festival held near Kibbutz Re'im, which is just a few miles away from the Gaza Strip.

According to reports, Jake Marlowe, who resides in Ma'alot in northern Israel, was involved in the security for the event. He had reached out to his mother, Lisa, mentioning the presence of flying rockets in the area. 

The last communication from Jake was received around 5:30 AM UK time on Saturday, where he assured his mother that everything was fine despite the poor signal and expressed his love for her.

As news of the attack spread, concerned family members made efforts to locate Jake by checking hospital lists and seeking assistance from various channels, including the Israeli embassy in the UK and the Home Guard command. 

The Israeli Embassy confirmed that Jake Marlowe is currently missing in the vicinity of Gaza.

Having been in Israel since November 2021, Jake felt a strong connection to his Jewish roots and aspired to serve his home country. Though his desire to enlist in the army was not fulfilled, he found solace in relocating during the pandemic and embracing his cultural identity.

Details surrounding the music festival attack are still unclear as the event is being closely examined. The absence of precise information from afar adds difficulty in comprehending the actual occurrences. As such, the worries and hopes of those close to Jake continue to build as they await further updates.
