Corey Taylor forced to cancel Aftershock Festival appearance due to knee injury and COVID
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has unfortunately had to cancel his solo performance at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California this weekend. Taylor was originally scheduled for 5:35 PM today, Saturday, October 7, on the Jack Daniel's stage. As a result of the cancellation, Reddstar has been moved from Shockwave to open Jack Daniel's, and all artists have shifted up accordingly in timeslot, with Fever 333 filling Taylor's slot.
In a message shared on his social media, Taylor revealed the reasons behind his absence:
During our Los Angeles show this past week, I fell on stage and sustained a significant injury to my knee. On top of this, a few members of our band and crew have been impacted by Covid, and as a result, we are unable to perform.
The health and safety of our team and the festival attendees is of utmost importance to us.
We are deeply disappointed by this situation but are hoping for a fast recovery for everyone involved.
Thank you for an amazing tour - and we can't wait to rock out with you soon.
This setback comes after Taylor's previous knee surgeries in May 2019, which required a brief recovery period. However, he managed to bounce back and appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" with Slipknot that same month. He also performed a successful solo show shortly after.
In 2016, he underwent emergency spinal surgery, uncovering a long-standing broken neck that had gone undetected for years. Reflecting on the incident, he suspects it may have originated from a fall he took back in 1999 during an Ozzfest performance.
