Michael Poulsen has been leading the Danish rock band Volbeat for over 20 years. Before joining Volbeat, Poulsen formed the death metal band Dominus, which released four albums in the mid-'90s. While creating songs for Volbeat's 2021 album, Servant of the Mind, Poulsen wrote a collection of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone. After finishing the Volbeat record, Poulsen started putting together songs for his new death metal band, Asinhell. Their debut album, Impii Hora, is a tribute to Poulsen's favorite old-school groups.

Poulsen says:

"'Island of Dead Men' was the second song I wrote for the album. It's one of the faster and more aggressive songs on the record, but with a groovy Death chorus and a solid middle piece that hails the mighty Autopsy. Enjoy… or don't!"
