Billie Eilish is a fan of It Dies Today

It Dies Today

It turns out mega pop star Billie Eilish is a fan of heavy music, more specifically early 2000s metalcore from the Buffalo, NY Area. In the early hours of the morning, Eilish posted a quick 5-second clip taken from the inside of a vehicle in which the video is just of passing scenery, but the kicker is she used It Dies Today's classic "A Threnody For Modern Romance" off The Caitiff Choir (Trustkill Records) as the audio behind the clip. You can view the video in our Twitter (or X) replies to the Tweet (or Xeet) below.

This isn't the first time a giant pop star has shown ties to the heavy music world; Post Malone is famously known for being spotted at hardcore shows and metal concerts, Demi Lovato has voiced her love for bands such as Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster and Lamb Of God, and hell, even recently actor Michael Shannon appeared at a He Is Legend show recently. Albeit not a pop star or anything, but still very cool.

Though you may not enjoy the music these artists make, it is very interesting to see how far this little world of screaming music can reach. Kudos to It Dies Today for the mention, perfect timing too.

Does Billie know the band has recently started things back up? Is she going to attend the reunion at Furnace Fest this year? She certainly was side-stage for Knocked Loose performing at Coachella, so it's not out of the realm of possibilities, is it?

Oddly enough, we also released the latest episode of The Vanflip Podcast featuring vocalist Nick Brooks of It Dies Today, check it out below:

Being liked by a retarded pop star isn't really a badge of honor but good for ITD I guess.

It sucks today just as it sucked back then: how to water down one In Flames riff ad infinitum and add emo whining and boring breakdowns to it.

anonymous 119 days ago

Go Bills!

anonymous 119 days ago

I honestly would like to see her releasing some real rock music instead of the mall/dressing room pop she does. Just out of curiosity.

" It sucks today just as it sucked back then: how to water down one In Flames riff ad infinitum and add emo whining and boring breakdowns to it." This sounds nothing like In Flames lol Clean ur f***ing ears.

all 00s metalcore is at the gates, in flames, dark tranquility, carcass, haunted rip off bands. you weren't around then so you wouldn't know.

anonymous 119 days ago

She is not. This kid has never heard of Van Halen before yet y'all still think she would know obscure metalcore bands? She probably remembers this band because she saw their merch at Hot Topic 10 or 12 years ago or just looked for a random core playlist on Spotify to look for a cool riff for this video.

anonymous 119 days ago

it cries today

anonymous 119 days ago

Remember kids, those mall pop singers just seek attention, and it worked for her, because you all will spend the day talking about this crap.

"More than half these bands suck ass. What a dork" Go back to your It Dies Today emo boy looool If you were not around, you will never get what was like listening to Wintersun and Necrophagist in 2004. They were fresh and exciting, nothing sounded like that at the time. These albums changed their whole genres. Mastodon aswell.

Billie Eyelash is about as retarded as her fans.

anonymous 119 days ago

At least she didn't say she likes Scowl. Oh you like It Dies Today, Billie? Ok, have them open an arena show for you & pay them at least 100K to play it (500 sales @ $200 each - nosebleed seats.) Typical lip service BS & she should be the first big pop star to hook up established underground bands considering she was discovered on YouTube & paid zero dues (not even a demo or shows.)

anonymous 119 days ago

She is not. This kid has never heard of Van Halen before yet y'all still think she would know obscure metalcore bands? She probably remembers this band because she saw their merch at Hot Topic 10 or 12 years ago or just looked for a random core playlist on Spotify to look for a cool riff for this video. I believe this also. It's like when Demi Lovato says she likes Job for a Cowboy. Out of all the better bands that play that style of music that's the one you like? More like that's the one whose name you heard dropped one time and now you repeat it it for cred.

anonymous 119 days ago

Demi lovato has been into this stuff for a long time. She was buying Merch from dr acula and he is legend from the MySpace days and came and watched both bands at bamboozle 2008

anonymous 119 days ago

In 2004, Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) was all that mattered.

anonymous 119 days ago

The only thing I remember about 2004 music was 10 minutes of Botch worship with bands like The Minor Times and Engineer, American Nightmare rip off bands like Killing the Dream. and the decent Charmer by Breather Resist.
