Kublai Khan TX forced to withdraw from Inkcarceration Fest due to family medical issue
In a last-minute turn of events, Kublai Khan TX will not be appearing at Inkcarceration Fest in Ohio this week. In a statement, frontman Matt Honeycutt explained that he is currently in Sherman, Texas with his adopted father, DW Honeycutt, who is undergoing an operation to remove his cancer at Baylor Medical Center in McKinney, Texas.
As DW Honeycutt is scheduled to be released from the hospital on the day the band was due to play, Matt Honeycutt will stay in Texas to provide care and assistance. He has asked fans to keep his father in their thoughts and stated that the surgery is currently going as planned.
Honeycutt shared:
"Due to escalating medical circumstances, we will be unable to attend and play at Inkcarceration Fest in Ohio this week. To fill y'all in: I am in Sherman, Texas with my uncle (my adopted father), DW Honeycutt. He has been battling cancer for some time now and is having an operation, literally as I type this, in an attempt to remove his cancer at Baylor Medical Center in McKinney, Texas. Seeing as he will turn 90 next month, he needs my assistance and care post- surgery since there's just the two of us. He is scheduled to be released from the hospital on the day we were supposed to play the festival, but he will be unable to walk or care for himself properly. So, with all due respect to the festival and the attendees, there is no other option on this earth than to stay in Texas and aid his recovery. None. So, keep him in your thoughts. As of right now, the surgery is going as planned and should be completed around 6pm Texas time today, July 11th. Love and respect. Thank y'all for understanding.
-Matt Honeycutt"
