Burnt By The Sun to carry on

Undeterred by the recent departure of vocalist Mike Olender and drummer Dave Witte, the remaining members of Burnt By The Sun will apparently be pushing ahead. Here are two semi-cryptic messages from the band: "Things are looking up at Camp BBTS today. Johnny and I are talking about future plans. They are not as bleak as they seemed last week, we'll keep this a secret for a while... [and later] 3 out of 4 are taken care of. Things will start to roll in October and November. 2005 will be a good year for BBTS." According to one source, the band has already lined up drummer Brandon Thomas (Dim Mak, Ripping Corpse), but we can neither confirm nor deny this rumor right now. Stay tuned.

Fraulein 9/23/2004 11:56:07 PM

This is a bad idea.

gozer 9/24/2004 12:15:57 AM

oh god, just give it up and let the name DIE

SexyMetalKarma 9/24/2004 1:08:00 AM

this is cool...Hopefully BBTS sticks around for a long while...Its like what happened with Martyr AD...after they released an album with the new singer, everyone pretty much quit bitchin....plus the drummer from Dim Mak is fckin awesome..good choice

xannebowmanx 9/24/2004 1:21:29 AM

I really don't think BBTS is comparable to Martyr AD. Especially drummer wise. Not to mention the role Oleander played in BBTS. We'll see. I'm not one to give up.

They're going to need one helluva vocalist to fill Olender's shoes...it's obviously not going to be the same, but we can all only hope that the new BBTS is just as sick as the old one.

i see where this is going. :(

I have faith that Ted and John will bring the awesome once again. I can only hope that they don't get some generic screamer/shouter on vocals. Olender had a distinctive voice, and the band needs something a little out of the ordinary up front.

teddy and john got skills. they'll come up with something good.

rob_mcfeters 9/24/2004 3:46:37 PM

it won't be BBTS. without Witte, it's not legit.....*sighs*

The_Suit 9/24/2004 6:44:45 PM

I agree that the name should change, and I honestly don't think the guys can be replaced. Especially Dave. :(

theplowking 9/25/2004 9:14:33 AM

once the majority of the original line up leave change your name, its not the same. it never will be.

Kefka 9/25/2004 11:52:29 AM

Replacing Mike is pretty easy. Just throw a mentally challenged person in there. Sounds just like him.
