In February, Tim Lambesis and Ryan Neff of Miss May I began working on new material for As I Lay Dying. It appears that they have now progressed to recording the material in the studio with Joseph McQueen.

The band's Instagram account shared an update stating that drums for their upcoming eighth studio album have been tracked, accompanied by photos of Nick Pierce (formerly of Unearth) behind the kit. Pierce joined the group in June 2022 to handle drums on As I Lay Dying's "Two Decades Of Destruction Tour" after drummer and co-founder Jordan Mancino announced he would not be touring due to "ongoing internal issues." As a replacement for Mancino, Pierce was announced and shortly after, As I Lay Dying and Mancino parted ways. Ken Susi, another former member of Unearth, took over as guitarist after Nick Hipa left the band in 2020.
